PAGE TWO PROVO (UTAH) EVENING HERALD, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21. 1937 Interesting Features For Women; Club and Lodge News Aceacia Club Entertains Guests An open session of the Acacia club was held at the home of Mrs. Theodore Taylor Wednesday afternoon, a delightfully interesting program being presented for the members and guests. Mrs. Elliot Tuttle was assisting hostess, and the president, Mrs.

Kenneth Weight, welcomed the women. The rooms were beautiful with roses and snap dragons. A fine review of the opera. "Rigoletto" was given by Mrs- Allie W. CJark, following which Miss Hilma Henry, a student of Mrs.

Clark, sang a beautiful selection from the opera. A tasty luncheon, in a Hallow- e'en scheme, was served. The guest list included: Mrs. T. Z.

Jacobsen. Dinner Precedes Initiations The Fauvine club of the B. Y. high school held final initiation ceremonies at the home of Miss Elaine Holbrook Monday evening, 20 members being present. Preceding the ceremonies, a dinner was tendered by the new girls for the old, at Keeleys.

Heindselman OPTOMETRIST All women students attending the Brigham Young university for the first time are to be the guests of the B. Y. U. faculty women at a reception, Thursday, October 28 from 4:30 to 7:30 at the home of resident and Mrs. Franklin Harris.

The Faculty Women's reception is an annual affair and is one of the season's outstanding social events. The committee of arrangements include: Mrs. Vasco M. Tanner president; Mrs. Franklin S.

U. Club Party Enjoyable I. C. club members met at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Crane Wednesday afternoon, and an enjoyable time was spent exchanging ideas for Christmas gifts.

Mrs. Pearl L. Sharp of Lehi was welcomed into the club. A delicious luncheon was also served to Mrs. Fern Rasmussen of Logan, and Mrs.

L. Affair The Salt Lake Mutual Aid auxiliary, entertained at a delightful bridge-luncheon at the Moose club hall in Salt Lake, Wednesday, members of the Utah County Peace Officers' auxiliary being invited as guests. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Ren Thompson and Mrs. Henry East, both of Provo.

William Ferre, Mrs. Kenneth Craven and Mrs. Clarence Greer, and Mrs. Justice Johnson, Mrs. Leland Silver and Mrs.

Glen Hester of Salt Lake City were also present. Bridge followed, Mrs. Silver and Mrs. Mortensen winning the favors. The guests remained in Salt Lake overnight, and the same party was tendered a delightful breakfast at the home of Mrs.

Silver at the Fairmont apartments Wednesday morning. Later, they attended the theater. Mrs. Silver accompanied the Provoans home and is the house guest of Mrs. Craven.

(QNGRATULATIONS Beta Sorosis Is Hostess To Utah Sorosis "The Years" Is Reviewed at Club Mrs. Albert Hickman was hostess to members of the Ladies' Literary club Wednesday afternoon at her home. A splendid review of the book, "The Years," by Virginia Woolf, was given 'by Mrs. Wayne B. Hales, and delicious refreshments were served.

Marigolds and roses beautifully decorated the entertaining rooms and the dining table, a delicious hot supper being served during the cany evening. Progressive games were played, prizes going Mrs. Cheever and Mrs. Madsen. Two readings were given by Miss Helen Hoover and a duet was sung by Gloria and Donna Singleton.

Many beautiful gifts were presented to the honbr guest. Postal Clerks' Auxiliary Meeting A special meeting of the auxiliary to the Provo Postal Clerks' organization, will be held at 3 o'clock Friday at the home of Mrs. Albert Rasmussen. Mrs. Francis Newman of Salt Lake City, state president, has a message for the women, and a full attendance will be appreciated Vlanavu R.

S. Teachers' Meeting The Manavu ward Relief society visiting teachers are requested to meet Friday at 2:30 o'clock the home of the president, Mrs. Annie E. Huish, 469 North Third East street. The year's work is to be discussed, and a full attendance is urged.

Mr. and Mrs. Loy Forshee (Edna Peay) wish to announce the birth of a daughter, weighing eight pounds, born this morning at the home, 142 North Ninth West. The new arrival has two brothers- Mr, and Mrs. R.

W. Goodell of 1119 First avenue. Salt Lake City, formerly of Provo, are happy to announce the birth of a daughter, Monday afternoon at Holy Cross hospital. Mrs. Goodell was formerly Myrtle Sumpter, Salt Lake, and the babe has one sister.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burns have a fine baby girl, born at the Crane Maternity home Wednesday night. The mother is the former Zella Buckner. Las Amigas Club Is Entertained Members of the Las Amegas club were guests of Mrs.

Melva Jensen at her home Wednesday evening. Attractive Hallowe'en-' colors and motifs were used in decorating. A delicious dinner was served, after which bridge was the diversion. Mrs. Bessie Whiting, Mrs.

Arvilla Anderson, Mrs. Hilda Allen and Mrs. Genevieve Thompson were guests, and the members present, were: Mrs. Ray Loveless, Mrs. Atha Stewart, Mrs.

LaVon Trotter, Mrs. Reanon Hansen, Mrs. Merriam Phillips, Mrs. Louise Anderson, Mrs. Bunny O'Brien and Mrs.

Helen Cole. Mrs. Anderson won the high score prize, and Mrs. Stewart the second favor and Mrs. Allen the traveling award.

Among the pleasing club events of the week, was the affair given by the Beta Sorosis for the Utah Sorosis members, Wednesday afternoon at the residence of Mrs. Vern R. Greenwood. Mrs. Paul Jacobsen and Mrs.

Andrew Broaddus were assisting hostesses for the well planned party. A Czechoslovakian program was presented by Mrs. Miller, who appeared charming in her attractive native costume. She gave a fine paper dealing with the history of the country, customs of the people, the religion, industries, education, recreation, and showed many interesting pictures. Three Czech folk songs which Mrs.

Miller has transposed into English, were sung by a trio comprising Mrs. Ernest Rasmuson, Mrs. C. O. Jensen and Mrs.

F. Blaine Ward. Mrs. Ward sang a lovely Czech number, and two were played on the piano by Mrs Marvin Gease. A tea followed the program, the table being artistic with yellow and bronze chrysanthemums in a crystal bowl, and yellow tapers in crystal holders.

A beautiful silver and crystal service was used. Mrs. 'Glen Simmons aand Mrs. J. Erval Christensen poured.

The refreshments featured Czech delicacies, the Christmas cakes being made by Mrs. Komar Kova, mother of Mrs. Miller, who recently arrived from Czechoslovakia to make her home with her daughter and family. JOB'S DAUGHTERS Job's Daughters will meet Saturday at o'clock at the Masonic temple, and a full attendance is urged. There will be a practice for the majority degree. Plans Set For Armistice Party An interesting meeting of the American Legion auxiliary was held Wednesday evening at the Armory, presided over by the president. Mrs. Fred Newell.

Mrs. Bernice Dastrup sang two lovely "I Love Life," and "In the Garden of Life." She was accompanied by Mrs. Zenith Johnson. Pep singing was led by Mrs. Ellsworth, with Mrs.

Lucile Simmons at the piano. A report of last activities was read by Mrs. Mary Wayman, and later, an Armistice party was planned for legionnaires and auxiliary members for November 11. Mrs. Irene Mower is to be in charge.
