TWO CORSICANA (TEXAS) DAILY SUN. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 1961. Megro Charged In Fatal Stabbing Of Bus Operator HOUSTON, Oct. Johnny Morris, 23 a negro has been of slaying Florlart A. No- wok, 30 a bus driver stabbed to death Thursday gcforo terrified passengers.

Morris was charged before Justice lorn Maes with murder. The weapon, a yellow bone-handle knife with a 3 1-2 Inch blade, was found concealed In His bathroom, police said. Stabbed In Heart A knife was plunged Into Nowak's heart following a row between Morrla and a white passenger, as they boarded the bus on Mam. Morris asserted ho stabbed the bus driver In self defense. Police quoted him: "When the bus stopped and I started to get on a white man pushed mo back and he got on the bus and I followed him, giving the driver my transfer.

"The white man said something to me when I started back but I didn't understand what it was. The bus driver then Bald to me, 'Here Is your transfer, get on another "I started to get off the bus and when my back was turned the bus driver kicked or pushed me, knocklsg me down. "I then got out and reached in my pocket and pulled out my knife. We scuffled on the floor and then both of us got up. Tho bus driver then started at me and I met htm.

"When I met him I stuck him one time with my knife." Other Version Differ Statements by other witnesses differed. They said the bus driver was stabbed when he ordered a negro to gbt off the bus by the rear door. Justice Jackson Protests Refusal Of Texas Appeal i WASHINGTON, Oct tlce has protested that the Supreme Court, by refusing to consider an appeal by a Texas constable in a civil rights case, was bringing "a dangerous and novel importation Into American criminal law." The constable, Bruno A. Koehler got a $500 fine and six months in for beating up a negro, Efram Rasberry, the boating occurred after one of Koehler's hounds was Injured by the negro's car near Marion, Texas, the night of August 1949. Koehler and a friend, Hugo Ackermann, pursued the negro's i wr and overtook it Rasberry was I Wiled out put under arrest, and then beaten.

Koehler and Ackermann were 1 tried in federal court in Texas on a ehage that they violated Ras berry's civil rights. Ackermann got the sentence as the constable and both appealed to tre Supremo Court The high court, by vote of 7-2 today rejected their appeal. Justice Black noted he favored a hearing for the pair.
