Marine Pvt. First Class David A. Skrabee has completed studies at Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C. During the 11-week session, he learned the basics of battlefield survival, including first aid, marksmanship and close order drill. Skrabee is a 1987 graduate of Spanish River Community High School.

His parents are David J. and Patricia A. Skrabee of Boca Raton. Marine Cpl. Eddie R.

Balli of Boynton Beach recently left for duty in the Western Pacific with the Battalion Landing Team of Camp Pendleton, Calif. He is the son of Maria R. Balli of 117 N.E. Fifth Boynton Beach. Balli joined the corps in 1981.

Marilynn Billquist-Beattie and her husband, Willard Beattie, have been mates ever since he pulled his boat into Boynton Beach's Seamist Marina from Canada 10 years ago. It was a whirlwind romance that sent the retiree and his sweetheart-swim instructor to the altar after just three months. Today, Beattie, 72, was to be inducted into the Delray Beach Sunrise Kiwanis Club, joining his wife, 63, who became a member last year.

Together, they become the first married couple to join the organization, which first opened its doors to women a year ago. Mrs. Beattie, who says she's taught 13,000 children to swim during the last 55 years, is "Swannie" the clown in her spare time. She is a member of the Cracker Jack Clown Club of Delray Beach, is active with the Greater Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce and is a volunteer for the South Florida Science Museum and Planetarium. Both are members of the Moose Lodge.

"My husband is service-orientated too," she always follows me around, helping bail me out. He is one of those who is very handy. He can do anything." Beattie said community service was "kind of a family affair it keeps me busy." One of the club projects the Beat-ties look forward to working on is the annual Soap Box Derby. Ninety-four friends and neighbors of Dr. Saro and Eleanor Cali bid the bridge teachers a fond farewell last week during a surprise card party in their honor at the Section 10 Clubhouse in Boynton Beach's Leisureville.

The couple taught bridge in the community for 10 years. Now they're moving to the Indian River Estates Community Life Care Retirement Community in Vero Beach. Jeanette Janicke and Howard Schotter hosted the party. Jean-nette Torno played piano for the guests, Virginia Schotter prepared the floral arrangements and Florence Wolf wrote a poem called Remembering in tribute to the Calis. Cakes for the party, prepared by Lund's Bakery, were decorated with the four aces.
