Layton Jaycees Seeking Young Men for Award Special to The Tribune LAYTON-Outstanding young men in the Layton area will be selected for honors in the annual Layton Junior Chamber of Commerce achievement program scheduled for later this month.

George Wood, 76, retired beet sugar industry execu- Sunday morning after a heart attack. He had been with the beet sugar industry in both Utah and in Alberta.

A resident of Raymond, he had retired in 1952 as general of Cana- Mr. Wood manager dian Sugar Factories, Ltd. He was born June 28, 1887, in Northampton, England, the son of Arthur John and Eliza Maria Wilson Wood. HE CAME TO Salt Lake City in 1897. "He married Roxy Norma Woodruff, Sept.

10, 1913, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. MR. WOOD JOINED the Idaho Sugar in Salt Lake City in 1903 and was appointed assistant purchasing agent in 1915. He was promoted to purchasing agent in 1919. IN 1925 HE was named district manager of -both the Chinook, and Alberta, Canada, districts of the company.

When British Columbia Sugar Refining Vancouver, acquired Utah-Idaho Sugar's mond plant in 1931, Mr. Wood joined the British firm as its district manager. He was named general manager of Canadian Sugar Factories, Ltd. in 1945. HE WAS ACTIVE in the Boy Scout movement and was the scout master of the Waterloo LDS Ward troop, Salt Lake City, organized in 1910 and the scout troop in the LDS Church.

He was president of the Taylor LDS Stake in Alberta from 1936 to 1947. From 1947 to he was senior high councilman in the stake. SURVIVORS INCLUDE his widow, Raymond; four sons and one daughter: Lincoln Lethbridge, David G. and Stephen Calgary; Woodruff Vancouver, B.C., and Mrs. Robert H.
