Heart Attack Kills Chuck Hall Palm Beach Post-Times, Sunday, August 11, 1974-B9 Area Deaths would have to determine the exact cause. Page said Hall and the daughter-in-law, Norma Hall, had just finished a brunch of ham and eggs when he complained of not feeling well and went to lay down. Mrs. Hall called Fred Zoller, a Miami Beach fireman who chauffered Hall around in his locally famous Rolls Royce. Zoller in turn called the rescue unit, Page said.

The mayor's wife, Jacqueline, who suffered severe injuries in a fall at their home July 1, was in Jackson Memorial Hospital when told of her husband's death. Hall, a native of Charlotte, N.C., was elected mayor of Miami Beach in 1971. The handsome, wealthy, smoothtongued Hall gained national attention during the summer of 1972 when he served as host for the resort city during the Democratic and Republican national conventions held there that year. Hall, a Democrat, was elected to the Dade County Commission in 1956 and became the metro government's first mayor in 1964. He was re-elected to that post without opposition in 1968.

He ran for mayor of Miami Beach alter losing a bid for the 1970 Democratic gubernatorial nomination to Gov. Reubin Askew. MIAMI (AP) Charles F. (Chuck) Hall, the flamboyant, silver-haired mayor of Miami Beach, died yesterday afternoon of an apparent heart attack, Dade County officials said. Hall, 56, was stricken while visiting the home of his daughter-in-law in the southwestern part of the county, the officials said.

A fire-rescue unit called to the home took Hall to South Miami Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m., they said. "All indications are that it was a heart attack," said Ralph Page, public information officer for the county sheriff's office. He said a post-mortem Lahtinen, I'uno 73, of 1132 Garnett Lantana.
