(AP) -Powerful Georgia, its offense sputtering early in the game, flashed to life in the second half yesterday to plow under the Clemson Tigers, 28-0. The Bulldogs, the nation's 14th-ranked football team, managed only three first downs in the first half and got their only score when sophomore Don Golden intercepted a Clemson pass and raced 71 yards to the end zone. In the second half, near perfect punting by Georgia's Jimmy Shirer gave the Bulldogs Auburn's star pass re-ceiver, Terry Beasley, does a flip after getting hit by a Tennessee defender. Beasley was injured early in the game, but recovered and helped lead the War Eagles to a 10-9 victory over the Vols.

Sullivan, a Heisman Trophy contender, hit on four straight passes in the drive, covering 75 yards to set up Harry Unger's five-yard touchdown run with 2:44 left in the game.

Gardner Jett, who kicked a 28-yard field goal in the second period, then added the game-winning extra point. The defeat was Tennessee's first at home in 24 games and also ended the Vols' 11-game winning streak, built following their 36-23 loss to Auburn last year. Tennessee's defense, sparked by cornerback Conrad Graham, had given Sullivan a horrendous afternoon until the stocky quarterback got the Tigers rolling at the end. The Tigers had wasted a scoring opportunity early in the final quarter when a 32-yard interference call on Graham gave Auburn a first down on the Vol two. On the first play, however, James Owens fumbled and Tennessee claimed it in the end zone.

The Vols then drove to the Auburn 14, where the Tigers recovered a fumble and started their game-winning drive. Sullivan completed three passes of 23, 23 and 11 yards to Dick Schmalv and one for 19 to Terry Beasley in the drive. Lake scored again with less than seven minutes left in the game after Georgia mounted an 82-yard drive. The Bulldogs converted several important third-down situations during the drive as Clemson appeared powerless.
