He is a farmer and rancher near Marquette. The couple are at home in rural McPherson. Each family member works on the farm READING, Pa. (AP) The sun creeps over the horizon, casting a glow over the farm that is tended by the seasoned hands of Wilson M. Balthaser and his family.

They were chosen as this year's outstanding farm family in the county by the Agricultural and Horticultural Association of Berks County. For Wilson and his wife, farming has been a way of LaVerne, childhood. They learned it from their parents and, in turn, are teaching their children, Tammy, 14, Randy, 11, and Jason, 9, the joys and disappointments of life on the farm. The children learn very early that farming is a full-time job. They begin their daily chores, not only early in life, but also early in the morning.

The bride-to-be graduated from Scott Community High School and Hutchinson Community College. She is a radiologic technologist in the radiology and oncology department at John's Hospital, Salina.

Her fiance, a graduate of Salina Central High School and St. John's X-Ray School, is a radiation protection specialist for the State of Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Bureau of Radiation Control. A June 22 wedding is planned at Oakdale Park. Beaver-Bird QUINTER Mr. and Mrs.

Larry Beaver announce the engagement of their daughter, Sheryl Lea, to Scott Regan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bird, Quinter. The bride-elect graduated from Quinter High School and attended Tabor College. She is studying nursing at Marymount College.

Plane models show history of aviation NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Raymond Waddey of Parsons, may have one of the world's largest air forces in miniature.

Waddey, who earns his living painting airplane portraits, presides over a collection of exquisitely detailed model aircraft that depicts aviation history from the Wright Brothers spindly biplane to the Air Force's latest Rockwell B-1 bomber. His collection currently numbers 312 planes, each of them representing a particular aircraft right down to the serial numbers. 4 4.
