re ceive latest information on prison qamp conditions and privileges through the newly organized pris anerof war sub committee of the Hill County Red Cross Chapter Miss Minnie Maresch chairman of the local Red Cross chapter an nounced today Under the chairmanship of Mrs Wood this sub committee will supply current information on relief measures taken by the RedCrossinbehalt: American zna tionals held by the enemy and advise of postal and other regula tions governing communication with prisoners Miss Maresch said Stating that about 40000 Am ericans are held by Germany and Japan the Red Cross spokesman said the prisoners of war sub committee will be provided with lists of prisoners from Hill county and will advise their next of kin how they may send mail and gifts to them 1 The new sub committee will function as a part of the Hill Coun ty Red Cross home ser vice program for servicemen 'and their families In reviewing the function of Wer sub committee Mrs Wood said: shall do our best
