I I JACKSON COUNTY RAMBLERS MOTORCYCLE CLUB MET LAST NIGHT The Jackson County Ramblers Motorcycle Club met again day night at the Indian Motorcycle Shop in Carbondale, at 8 p. m. A short meeting was held this time, since there was little business to handle and plans were discussed for coming club activities and a committee appointed to plan the coming events for the club and report to the club at the next meetwhich will be held on Tuesday, April 16th. The "Dark Horse" drawing at the end of meeting was won by the only guest attending, Bill Lipe. from Murphysboro.

Anyone interested is invited to attend the next regular meeting of the Ramblers at the Indian Motorcycle Shop, 906 Lake Street, Car-: bondale on Tuesday, April 16th at 8 p. m. DATE OF MINSTREL SHOW ANNOUNCED BY RURAL 'YOUTH GROUP Members of the Buncombe Youth Group have announced that the minstrel show, for which they have been practicing during the past few weeks, will be presented at Buncombe school house, west of Highway 51 in Makanda township, on Friday evening, April 5. The! public is invited to attend. There will be no admission charge, but a collection will be taken.

Curtainraising time has been set at 8 o'clock. The group, with twenty-one persons in the cast, presented the show at the Anna junior high school 011 Tuesday evening, to an appreciative audience. MEETING The Wesleyan Service Guild of the First Methodist Church will hold its regular monthly meeting in the Ladies' Parlor of the Church Mrs. Lula Nave will' conduct the Thursday evening at seven thirty. devotionals.

A special feature of the program will be a talk by Mrs. Herbert Russell on "Life and Cuslived in South America, Mrs. Rustoms of South America." Having sell will draw upon first hand experiences observations which should help to make the work of the Wesleyan Service Guild in that country more real. Hostesses for the evening will be Mrs. Schuete and Mis Esther Shubert.

All business and professional women are invited to attend this meeting. The regular meeting of the Past Matron's Club will be held Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Nell Reeves, 306 North University, with dessert at 7:00 p. m. All members are cardially invited to attend.

Mrs. John Bruger was called to Louis. Tuesday because of the critical illness of her mother, Mrs. Dora Crowell. Mr.

and Mrs. Charles Chamberlain of East St. Louis spent the week with Mrs. Neetie Jenkins Jackson Street. Mrs.

Harold E. Braswell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Braswell, of the South Highway, telling of his success in the Army Engineer Corps. He is now stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.

He enlisted for a period of 18 months and has serv. ed since January 24, 1946. The following is the score which was reached in order to accomplish this medal. A. meeting of the Community High School was held Monday night with a 'good attendance. The meeting was opened by the President, Mrs. F. J.

McCloskey. Mrs. W. A. Johnston led the audFence in group singing with Mrs.

Mewart Chandier at the piano. After the business of the meeting, Stewart Chandle: presented his travelogue of the many beauty, spots in Illinois and many of our own city. Mr. Hamilton, recently discharged after three years service in the Army has been a life long resident of Carbondale. He was released as a Technical Sergeant from the Nebraska Recruiting District where he was on temporary duty in Aberdaen, South Dakota. Mr. Hamilton now finishing his Senior year at the Southern Illinois Normal University.

Open church will be observed for the wedding and the many friends of the prospective bride and groom are cordially invited to attend. NEW ERA SCHOOL CHILDREN ENJOY PARTY The children of New. Erd School greatly enjoyed a party given by Mrs. Charles Young at her home Friday afternoon. An interesting science lesson on radiosondes was given by Wayland Young.

Contests and games were played by the children. Prizes were won by Mary Louise Glenn, Barbara' Klump, Jimmy Harris, Eugene Klump and William Klump.
