Lessons were given by Jean Haas and Mert Cummings. An invitation was ex* tended by the Zeta Xi chapter to their preferential tea to be held April 28 at the home of Norma Johnson. The spring banquet will be held May 4 at the K. C. Hall at 6:30 p.m. The next party meeting of the qhapter will be held April 30, 7:30 p.m., at the home of Beverly Zender. Engaged To Wed Mrs Marie Frankl of Irvington has announced the engagement and approaching marriage of her sister, Marguerite Mulligan, also of Irvington. Miss Mulligan will wed Sylvester Hayes at St. Cecelia Catholic church in Algona May 7. Club Meefs Wednesday, April 3 IS women of the Riverdale Friendly club and two guests, Mrs John Beck and Mrs Leo Thilges, met at the home of Mrs Lyle Steele with Mrs Anton Weydert assisting. The newly elected officers were installed as follows: President, Jean Metwn; vice president, Elizabeth Grill; and secretary treasurer, Leona Sabin. Each was presented a corsage. A vote of thanks was extended the retiring officers, Marie Bernau, Opal Barker and Mary Becker. Mesdames Lawrence Gisch and Wilmer Thilges were welcomed as new members. By-laws of the club were read by Elizabeth Grill. Secret sisters were revealed and new names drawn. Year books were handed out. Carolyn Weydert is mother of the club, Margaret Weydert, music chairman, Opal Baker and Loretta Thilges, courtesy comm. and Alice Steele, reporter. Several games were enjoyed and lunch sorved. The Mny meeting will ho at the home of Mrs Alfred Grill. The regular meeting of the "Newcomers Club" set for Thursday, April 18, has been postponed till May 2 due to Holy week. Pol!c* Meet* The Algona branch of the Policemen's Ass'n Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs Frances Drake Monday evening, April 8. Eight members were present. Following the business meeting, cards were played with high going to Mrs Peter Jorgenson and low to Mrs Frances Drake. The next meeting will be held May 14 at the home of Mrs Richard Green. Hostess At Canasta Mrs AliPe Clayton" entertained at a Canasta party Saturday evening in honor of the birthday of her sistor, Mrs W. C. Dewel and Mrs Lela Hieter who is now at her home in Livermore after spending the winter at Mrs Clay* ton's. Other guests were Ida Peterson, Mrs Arthur Jackman, Mrs Alice Dilsworth. Mrs Bessie Jones and Mrs M. H. McEnroe. Townsend Mewling Algona Townsend Club met at the Art Anderson home Tuesday evening, April 9. Following the meeting all enjoyed the various games with prizes going to Mrs Arnold LaD- ier and W. R. Carney. The next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday evening, April 23 at the Wilbur Holdren residence. , Family Dinner for Airman A family dinner was held Wednesday evening for A/3C Rodney Kickbusch at the home of Ins parents, Mr and Mrs Kenneth Kickbusch. Those in attendance were Mr and Mrs B. W. Kick- Injcch, of Webster City; Mr and Mrs Paul Teglund of' Belmond; and Mr and Mrs Joe Funk. Rodney is Icwving for an air base in California, thence to Hawaii. CONSUMERS Wed 48 Mr and Mrs Molvin Dutton celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary Sunday and a family dinner was held at Van's Cafe. In attendance were Mr and Mrs Raymond Nelson of LuVerne, Mr and Mrs Glen Teeler, Mr and Mrs Russell Cook and Mr and Mrs Henry Johannsen. They spent the afternoon at the Johanhsens.
