THE PALM BEACH POST FRIDAY, MARCH 17, 2000 5B Police photograph hands of suspect in fatal beating Another suspect accused Carlos Sevillano of visiting him after the attack with bloody, swollen hands. By Brian D. Crecente Palm Beach Post Staff Writer BOCA RATON Police took photos of the hands of a man who witnesses say took part in the fatal beating of Adam Jones, according to court records. Boca Raton detectives took 11 photographs of the front and back of Carlos Sevillano's hands at the police station on March 9, according to a search warrant filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court Wednesday. Neither Sevillano nor West Palm Beach attorney Scott Richardson, who is representing him, was available for comment Thursday.

No one has been criminally charged in the case. A reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case rose to $1,500 Thursday. Police said an anonymous person added $500 to the $1,000 reward established by the department Sevillano, 21, of Boca Raton, was questioned by police earlier this month after another suspect, Marine Pvt. Derrick Acklin, told detectives that Sevillano jumped on top of the 20-year-old Jones and beat him as he lay on the ground. Acklin, 19, said Sevillano visited his house after the attack with bloody and swollen hands and bragged about beating Jones.

During a 10-hour interview at Marine Base Camp Lejeune, N.C. on March 3, Acklin told two Boca Raton police detectives and two Naval Investigative Service agents that Jones hit him on the head with an empty beer bottle as he walked from a girl's birthday party at her house on Northeast the beating, said he punched Jones three times to free himself from Jones' grasp and then ran as Sevillano and another man jumped on Jones and began to punch and stomp him. After the interview, detectives confiscated the marine's sneakers, personal phone books and two pictures he drew depicting graphic violence. Police also raided the Boca Raton home of Acklin's mother on March 3, searching for a gold necklace and cross that were missing from Jones' body after the Feb. 26 attack, but did not seize anything, according to court documents.

Boca Raton police would not comment on the specifics of the case Thursday. briancrecentepbpost.com Jones 36th Street. The fertilizer contains nitrogen, phosphoric acid and soluble potash. Their symptoms also could have been caused by smoke coming from Everglades fires during the same period, said attorney James Brown.
