Business for the two men is the movies. As a team they put together "Flashdance" a phenomenal success, and Thief of Hearts" a critical and monetary failure. "Thief failed in part, says Simpson, because they were called in to rescue the picture well into production. "It didn't do well for various reasons," says Simpson. "But we won't take over any more projects mid way.

Too many things had already been done that couldn't be undone." Their Latest project is Paramount Picture's big Christmas release, "Beverly Hills Cop" starring Eddie Murphy. About a funny-tough Detroit cop who visits nice-nice Beverly Hills, this one, like their first project together, starts visions of dollar signs dancing in everyone's head. Separately they have impressive credentials. Bruckheimer was born in Detroit into a' lower middle class Jewish family (his parents now live in Fort Lauderdale) and ambitions to become a photographer. He began his career designing and shooting commercials, but eventually moved into theatrical film production.

His first film, "Farewell, My Lovely," with Robert Mitchum and Charlotte Ram-pling was followed by several others, including "American Gigolo" and "Cat People.
