The essay contest is, being held for the first time this year by the California State Dental Society, having been held here only once before by the American Dental Association. Children in the first and second grades are competing in the contest with and children in the third to eighth grades are writing short stories on dental health.

Prizes will he awarded at the next meeting of the State Dental Society on April 12, according to Dr. Ralph O. Wagner, secretary of the Alameda County Rental' Society. The charts presented the Oakland school department required over three years of study, art work and development of subject matter before their completion. The work on them was done by a group of men sponsored by the American Dental, Association.
