Elbert of Huntington Park, Calif. He is the son of Mr ;<nd Mrs Arnold Elbcrt of Algona. House Warming A surprise house-warming was held Saturday night. Mar. 9, for Mr and Mrs Floyd Gregory. Present were Mr and Mrs W. B. Patton, Mr and Mrs Johh Erpelding, Mr and Mrs Wallace Simpson, Mr and Mrs John Simpson, Mr and Mrs Eldon Shaw, Mr and Mrs Vernon Evans, Mr and Mrs Virgil Jennings, Mr and Mrs Dean Jergenson, Mr and Mrs Robert Buscher, Mrs Vern Teeter, Mr and Mrs Raymond Steven end son, Mr and Mrs Clifford Teeter, Dean and Carol. High prizes for 500 were won by Mrs Vernon Evans and Dean Jergenson. A lunch was enjoyed and a gift was presented to the honorees. Riverdale Friendly Club Riverdale Friendly club met Wednesday, March 6, at the home of Mrs John P. Simon, with Leona Sabin as assisting hostess. Election of officers was held. Jean Matzen was named as president, Elizabeth Grill was named vice president, apd,Leo|iJL< Sabin, secretary-treasurer. "" *^ Magdaline Zeller and "Mrs Hubert O'Brien had the program. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs Lyle Steele on April 3.' Ditlevson Farewell A farewell party was given Saturday evening at the Country- Club for Mr and Mrs Gordon Ditlevson who are going to Los Angeles to make their home. Those in attendance were Mr and Mrs Gordon Schmidt, Mr rmd Mrs William Ressler, Mr and Mrs Charles McVay, Mr and Mrs Arlo Murken, Mr and Mrs Perry Byarn, Mr and Mrs Phil Diamond, Mr and Mrs Don Prieskorn, Mr and Mrs F. M. Holt, Mr rnd Mrs Oliver Johnson and Jim Yychor. The honorees were presented with a gift. Girl Seoul Put? Girl Scout troop 16 met at Mrs William Funk's last week Monday evening. The birthday of Julia Lowe was observed and the cake was donated by Mr and Mrs David Shipley. Punch and sandwiches were also served. Leaders of this group are Mrs Daniel Bray, Mrs AT Agena, and Mrs Harlan Sigsbee. Mrs Lewis Marshall also a leader presented the badges. Mrs Helen Mikes was also present arid led the group singing. Newcomer* Club The "Newcomers Club* 1 met "Union Suits" Meet The "Union Suit" card club met Saturday niglit with Mr and Mrs Roland Collins. High score pri7.es were won by Mr and Mr? Leo Schenck and low score prize.* went to Mrs Ralph Taylor and Marvin Lee. Mrs William Dearchs won the travel prize. Bridge - Luncheons Mrs John Hopkins. Mrs James Merry man, Mrs Mitch Taylor. Mrs Rex Taylor, Mrs Rex Voyles, Mrs Milton Will and Mrs Robert Williams are entertaining at bridge-luncheons Thursday (today) and Friday at^ the Johnson House. last week Thursday at the Legion hall. Hostesses were Mrs Joseph Rooney, Mrs D. W. Shipley, Mrs W. T. Becker, and Robert Wallace. Twenty members were present. Cards were played and Mrs Rooney won the high ~$&>re prize at bridge, Mrs John Levy at 500 and Mrs Henry L.ast was winner of the travel prize. Mrs Virgil Rooney of Cedar Bluffs, Neb., and Mrs James Kplp were guests. Hospital Auxiliary A meeting of St. Ami hospital auxiliary board was held Monday. Anyone wishing to attend the state meeting at Des Moines, April 25, is asked to call Cypress 4-2189. ' Mrs Richard Burt replaced Mrs Steffans on the board. An open house is being planned for May 12 in the afternoon to observe the opening of National Hospital Week. Tag days will be held in conjunction with the week, May 17 and 18. Parents of Twins Mr and Mrs Harold Erpelding became the parents of twin girls, Julie Mae and Judie Fae, born Mar. 5, at St. Ann hospital. These little girls weighed in at 4 Ibs 35 oz and 6 Ibs. They have two sisters, Becky Ann and Jane Marie. Mrs Erpelding is the former Gloria Steele, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lyle Steele of Bode, and Harold's parents are Mr and Mrs John Erpelding of Whittemore. Hobby Show Tea Mrs Frances Eason who teaches at Third Ward school gave a tea and hobby show Thursday, Feb. 28 at which the mothers of the pupils were guests. Room mothers who were hostesses were Mrs Games Ackerman and Mrs Howard Stillman, assisted by Mrs A. J. Ricklefs and Mrs Irwin Malueg. Brother A Bridegroom Mrs Tom Merryman has received announcement of the marriage of her brother Allen Overton to Delia Morris Friday, March 5 at Des Moines. Mr Overton has been stationed with the fifth army headquarters at Chicago. After a brief leave be is leaving for Alaska. Mrs Overton will remain in Des Moines. 1 Peaches H ^^H^^^K »* MI/ ^MM^^ ^tfH^^ Tommy Taylor, 6 Mrs Rex Taylor gave a party Sunday to celebrate the sixth birthday of her son Tommy. Guests were Neal Anderson, Luann Holt, Patricia Hopkins, Steve Merryman, Craig Taylor Larry Taylor and the honoree's brother and sister, Dwight and Kathy. Ruth Circle The Ruth Circle of the Presbyterian church met with Mrs Leon Martin Tuesday evening. She was assisted by Mrs Willis Colwell and Mrs Merlin Baker. Mrs Vaughan Brown gave the lesson and Mrs Irving Miller gave devotions. , The Four Corners Mothers and Daughters club will meet Thursday, March 14 with Mrs Lester Walker who will be assisted by Gladys Eisenbarth, Cresco Riverdale Homemakers will meet with Mrs Iryin Gerber Wednesday afternoon Mar 20.
