The proposed school i provement program can be financed without increasing the Interest and Sinking Fund tax rate. The present Interest and Sinking Fund tax rate requirement is 30c per $100 valuation. This same rate has been used for the past several years. The bonds if approved would be retired in less than 20 years thereby making il possible for the district to get a lower interest rate when the bonds are sold. The present bonded indebtedness of the district will be paid in full in February 1908.

The Ricebirds had previously beaten Humble and fallen before the Clear Creek Wildcats 83-45. The Tigers and El Campo battled on even terms for quarters but the last quarter ball handling and free shooting of Jordan, Don Thurnan Stan Thompson and Mike Newman "iced" the game away. The final verdict was 70-59 which was a scoring ligh for the Tigers in this roung season.

Rhodes again ed the Bengals with 25 points, Baucum chipped in 15 and Thurman had 14 to place three joys in double figures. In the iinals Clear Creek edged La Marque 43-41 in the last minute' to take their 4th consecutive championship. Coach Howard McDonald was well pleased with the over-all performance of the Tigers this past weekend. The effort and determination of each of the members of the ten-men squad was outstanding. The ability to produce against top-flight competition is one of the ear-marks of a ball club.

Particularly impressive was the play of Carlton Baucum, Tiger post man, who has consistently shared in scoring and rebounding and the play-making and ball handling of Katy's back court trio, Don Thurman, Stanley Thompson and Steve Jordan, three "diminutive rynamos." Tiger efforts were rewarded in this tournament as they received a beautiful team trophy and a silver minaturc basketball for each player. As of last Saturday, Katy has posted a record of 5 wins and 2 losses. The first loss came at Dulles Tuesday night a week ago as the Vikings avenged themselves 51-48. Still smarting from a tournament loss to Katy, the Vikings came from behind in the last 15 seconds to win. Today at 4:00 p.m.

the Tigers take on Pearland in the opening game of the Humble Jaycee Tournament. Should the Tigers win, they will meet the winner of the Channelview-Barber's Hill game (both are very strong teams) at 7 p.m. tomorrow. The finals of the Humble Tournament are slated for Saturday night. This tournament will close pre-holiday action for the Tigers.
