The search was ailed off after an our and a half hen police ended p In a muddy, re-lote area occa-lonally used as a umping ground orthwest of the ity. West Des Moines Police Lt. Gerry cott, who was among the small roup of searchers, said the heavily coded nearby land was being devel-ped for housing. He said police will sk workers going into the area to be alert that something may be there." Scott, however, didn't rule out the ossibility that police might return to te site, which is strewn with old ap-liances, tires and other debris. The search had been requested by le Gosch family. The psychic, Greta Alexander, who laims to have found hundreds of lissing people, sat in her Delavan, 1, home. She relayed her "impres-ions" by mobile phone to retired irinnell Police Chief James W. Ah-ens, who sat in a car with Scott. As Alexander, who has never been the area, gave her long-distance thoughts, Scott attempted to follow them. She spoke of landmarks and locales, among them bicycles and men on a railroad handcart, that could not be found. Several times Scott had to stop and find another route after leaving 42nd Street and Marcourt Lane in West Des Moines, where Gosch is believed to have been taken. Ahrens, who is an acquaintance of Alexander's, contended that some locations appeared to match her cryptic impressions, Including abandoned appliances and a change in the texture of the road surface. After trekking through the muddy site northwest of Des Moines, the searchers were told by Alexander there was a "good chance" Gosch had been buried in a shallow grave in the area. John Gosch, father of the missing boy, who went along on the search, said he was optimistic that the mystery will be solved. "Greta Alexander proably came close to something. That was one area I know hasn't been searched," he said. Johnny Gosch, 12, was believed taken In the early hours of Sept. S, 1982, when he was delivering the Des Moines Sunday Register. Almost two years later, Eugene Martin, IS, who also was delivering the Des Moines Sunday Register, was reported missing near his home in south Des Moines, about seven miles from where Gosch was last seen.
