Six Students Get Degrees At Champaign DeKalb students who received degrees today in commencement ceremonies at the University of Illinois, Champaign, include Becki Jean Duncan, 929 Lewis bachelor of science degree in commerce and business administration and Robert Bruce Johnson, Rte. 2, bachelor of science degree in engineering, Others are Wendelyn Kay Lindbeck, 204 Windsor Drive, and Jule Theodora Miller, 110 Glidden Road, both bachelor of science degrees in home economics; Marcia Joan Storey, 227 S. 9th bachelor of science degree, commerce and business administration and Stanley S.

Stroup, 570 Normal Road, bachelor of arts degree in liberal arts and sciences. Speaker was Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, a C.S.C., president of the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind. Rev.

Gustafson Will Represent Illinois Synod Rev. Milton V. Gustafson, pastor of First Lutheran Church, will be an official delegate to the third biennial convention of the Lutheran Church in America in Kansas City Tuesday through the following Wednesday. At least 2,000 persons are expected to attend the eight-day convention of the member denomination, including 686 delegates from the 50 states, Canada and the Caribbean. The delegates will set policy for the operation of the church in the next two years.

Among items on the agenda is the election of president and treasurer of the church, as well as several members of the executive council, boards and agencies. Will Make Statements Four position statements- on poverty, church-state issues, capital punishment and harassment of religious minorities will be presented by the Board of Social Ministry. Delegates will also consider recommendation that Lutheran Church Men be dissolved as a national auxiliary. Reports are expected on the nature and mission of the congregation in today's urban society and on the doctrine of the church's ministry, Rev. Gustafson is dean of the Joliet-Fox Valley District of the Illinois Synod of the LCA.

He will be one of 38 delegates from the synod to the convention, to be held in Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium. ISU Graduate Is Honored At Reception Diane Challand of was recently honored at a reception given for her by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Challand, in recognition of her graduation from Illinois State University. Miss Challand will teach third grade at McKinley School In Ottawa in the fall.

Those attending her graduation were Mr. and Mrs. Challand, Marylee and Diane, DeKalb; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Challand, Shabbona; Mr.

and Mrs. Thomas Hilleson, Ann and James, Lee, and Mr. and Mrs4 and Mrs. Matthews from Champaign. DeKalb Starlights Ann Gent gave a talk when members of DeKalb Starlights 4-H Club met recently.

Cathy Carlson, Jeanette Finn and Rosemary Eatherington served refreshments. Fete Brides-To-Be With Showers Carlene Peddicord, who will wed John Bauer Saturday at First Lutheran Church, was honored recently at a miscellaneous shower held at the home of Mrs. Mabel Dongas with Mrs. nette Levi and Mrs. Ruth Scott as co-hostess.

The bride-elect was presented corsage of pink roses as well as a basket of artificial fruit and floral centerpiece arranged by the guests. Her colors, pink and white, were used in decorations and for the luncheon. Mrs. Stanley Peddicord, mother of the bride, poured coffee, and Mrs. John Bauer of more, mother of the prospective bridegroom, poured punch.

Out-of-town guests were from Sycamore, Genoa, Rockford, Waterman, Cortland and Hinckley. Farr Carolyn Farr has been guest of honor at two recent bridal showers. Barbara Ferguson, roommate at Iowa State University, was hostess for a personal shower and lunch. Mrs. Clinton Anderson and Mrs.

Warren Anderson of Sycamore, aunts of the bride-to-be, entertained at a kitchen shower at Mrs. Clinton Anderson's home. Among the guests, who were relatives of the bride-elect. were Mrs. Donald R.

Lawrence and Cindy, mother and sister of the prospective bridegroom, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Miss Farr, her mother, Mrs. George Farr and Mrs. Lawrence were presented corsages of yellow carnations.

The luncheon was carried out in the brideelect's chosen colors, yellow and white. Church Plans Missionaries' Homecoming Members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church will honor Mr. and Mrs. Sigurd Larsen, missionaries of the American Lutheran Church who have just returned from the Cameroun, Africa, with a fellowship supper Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

With the Larsens will be their children, Ingrid, Ruth and Rachel, who accompanied their parents to Africa: Sonja, who was recently graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, and Paul, who attended Waldorf College at Forest City, Iowa, last year. Another son, who will be unable to attend, is a recent graduate of Bowman Gray Medical School, Winston-Salem, N.C, A program will follow the supper. Debby Jenkins Attends Annual Summer Camp Debby Jenkins of DeKalb is attending the 14th annual summer music camp of Illinois Wesleyan University at East Bay Camp on Lake Bloomington. The camp opened June 12 and will continue through next Saturday. Highlights of the two weeks will be concerts on this Sunday, June 19, and the final days of camp.

Students also receive Individual and small ensemble instruction plus taking advantage of the many recreational facilities at the camp. Special entertainment is featured nightly. E. M. Hadley of Duluth, Minn. Four Women Are Delegates To Convention Four DeKalb women have returned from Chicago wherel they were delegates to the Beta Sigma Phi Convention held at the LaSalle Hotel. Mrs.

Robert Neumann, Mrs. James Kayes, Mrs. Walter Jacobson and Mrs. Harold Wells were representatives from Exemplar Chapter, Zi Zeta Alpha of DeKalb. Walter Ross, founder of the International Society, was speaker at the one -day convention.

Altrusa Club Tells Officers At Meeting Altrusa Club of DeKalb-Sycamore met Wednesday at Nielsen's for the installation of new officers. Those installed were president, Louise Clelland; vice president, Frances Gotesky: recording secretary, Ruth Haddock; corresponding secretary, Eugenie Walker and treasurer, Marguerite McCulloch. Highlight of the day was the presentation of birthday cakes to two of the family, Ed Votaw and Sam Votaw. both of De Kaib. Ed Votaw was the oldest member present: the youngest was seven week old Regina Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Davis.

NIU Students To Participate In Workshop Garment trade techniques for use by students in a home economics sewing classroom will be featured in a One one-week Northern Illinois, workshop next week. The clinic on the Bishop method of advanced dressmaking will be held Monday through Friday, according to Dr. Catherine A. Rockwood, head of the department of home economics. Helen Collins, home economles teacher at Popular Grove's North Boone High School, will be workshop instructor.

She has presented the method in workshops in Oklahoma and at several Illinois schools. Mrs. Collins formerly assisted Marjorie Arch, one of the leading developers of modern techniques in the Bishop method. Developed by Edna Bright Bishop, the method adapts techniques of garment manufacturers for use by teacher and students. Its greatest appeal is its timesaving factor.
