I I OAKLAND TRIBUNE, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1935 LAST RITES FOR C.N. COOPERSET Simple Frites will mark funeral services for Clarence N. Cooper, 54, Oakland undertaker and prominent member of numerous Eastbay fraternal and business organizations, who died at his home, 1580 Fruitvale Avenue, Saturday morning. The services will be held at the Cooper Fruitvale Chapel, 1580 Fruitvale Avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev.

James B. Orr, pastor of Fruitvale Congregational Church, will officiate at the hites and members of Fruitvale Chapter, Order of DeMolay, will chant a lodge prayer for the dead. Six close personal friends of Cooper will serve as pallbearers. They include Arthur Schaffer, Kirk Taylor, Cyril Rossi, Patrick Gallagher, James Holland and Robert Grant. Burial will take place in Mountain View Cemetery following the services.

Cooper succumbed to a heart attack after an illness which lasted for several months. A native of Canada, he came to California in 1910 and established a business as funeral director two years later. He subsequently became widely known throughout the bay region. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Rae J.

Cooper, and a nephew, Winston Cooper of Chicago. A director of the Oakland Chamher of Commerce, Cooper was also a member of the Fremont Lodge of Masons, Scottish Rite Bodies of Aahmes Temple, Sciots, 'Fruitvale Chapter of Eastern Star, Fruitvale Camp, Woodmen of the World, B. P. O. Elks Lodge No.

171; Moose Lodge, No. Sons of St. George, Club and Fruitvale Aerie of Eagles, of which he was a past president. He was also a director of the Lake Merritt Breakfast Club and held honorary memberships in the Canadian and American Legions. Rose Marie Cronan, 42, wife of J. G. Cronan, associated. with the Luckenbach Steamship Company, San Francisco, died at Dante Sanitarium here at midnight yesterday. She was the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. C. W. Callaghan, of 252 Acton Place, Oakland, Mrs. Cronan, who resided at 1337 Francisco Street, was a native of San Francisco.

She graduated from St. Elizabeth's School and the College of Holy Names, Oakland. Besides her parents, Mrs. Cronan is survived by her husband two sons, John Robert, 3, and James William Cronan, three months old. Three brothers and a sister also survive.

They are Commander Daniel Callaghan, of the United States Naval Reserve unit at the University of California; Lieutenant-Commander William Callaghan, staff attache at the United State Naval Academy, Annapolis, Charles Callaghan, Oakland business man, and Miss Jane Callaghan, also of Oakland, Funeral services will be conducted at St. Bridget's Church, San Francisco, Wednesday morning. Gambling Raids SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 25. Forty-six, persons were arrested in three raids on alleged San Francisco gambling establishments yesterday. Nick Nukos, asserted proprietor, and 32 patrons were arrested at 262 Third Street. Police confiscated dice game paraphernalia at the place.

LACHMUND INSOCIETY TO MESSIAH ROLE SPONSOR WHIST Lorna Lachmund, San Francisco soprano and formerly an opera singer in Europe, will take one of the leading roles in the Alameda Choral Society's presentation of the Tuesday evening, December 3, in the Oakland Auditorium Theater. Miss Lachmund has appeared as soloist with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and the San Francisco Municipal Chorus. Other soloists, James will Isherwood, bass- Marlow, baritone, and Eva Gruninger, soprano.

The 150-voice choral group will be conducted by Dr. David Unruh, with Caroline Unruh at the piano. Marjorie Sommers will play the electric organ. Six Reputed Master Cracksmen Nabbed NEW YORK, Nov. men, said by police to be among the country's master cracksmen, were arrested yesterday while attumpting to loot the Jewelers' Exchange on the Bowery.

Between $1,500,000 and $2,000,000 in jewelry lies hidden in safes in the group of offices comprising the exchange, police estimated. Detectives characterized the burglary attempt as one of most ambitious crime plots in the city's history. The prisoners were: Charles Cohn (Charlie Cole), 29; Philip (Crooked Neck) Ziegler, 38; Peter (Petey) Kobac, 46; Max (Mockey) Price, 43; Jack (The Ox) Finkel, 33, and William (Dummy) Taylor, 46.
