til, and an increase of 50 cents per day in wages. The present scale is $5.50 to $8 per day, depending oh the size of the haul. A preferential employment arrangement also was provided. Coincident with the agreement, union teamsters opened a vigorous membership drive against nonunion "long, haul" drivers. Watchers on highways stopped truck drivers to ascertain if they had union membership cards.
