Five Addicks-Barker 4-H Members Place In Cooking Show The Addicks-Barker 4- Club had five members attend the Cooking Show at the Electric Living Center. They had three second place winners and two third place winners. The second place winners were Tassy Giddens, senior division, with her dish from the meat senior group; Claire Smolik, division, with her dish from the bread-cereal group; and Melisa Fry, junior division, with her dish from the vegetable-fruit group. The two third place winners were Terry Davis and Beth Smolik, who were both in the junior division.

Terry Davis' dish was from the meat group and Beth Smolik's was from the bread-cereal group. Billy Fry spoke at the Breakfast at the Houston Businessmen's Club, promoting 4-H. He represented the 4-H'ers of the State of Texas which numbers to 7,600. Grady McBurnett's father Henry McBurnett Sr. of Pattison had surgery Tuesday morning at Rosewood Hospital.

He is in room 217. Girl Scouts Reward Four Katy Ladies The 49th annual meeting of the San Jacinto Girl Scouts was held January 28, 1971 at the Marriott Hotel. The theme for the meeting WAS Awareness-Action. Over eight hundred scouts from 21 counties attended the dinner meeting. Service awards were presented by Miss Pat Twiss, Executive Director.

Pins for years of service designated five to thirty-five years. An associate member, Miss Carolyn Rylander, received a fifteen year pin. She was an active scout from the second grade through high school graduation. She has helped with a Brownie troop in Denton. Ten year pins were presented to Mrs.

Roy Sheffield and Mrs. B. Ray Woods. Mrs. Sheffield has been active as a leader in Houston and Katy and now is completing four years as Neighborhood Chairman.

Mrs. Woods had been active on the troop committee and service team. She has served as camp nurse and Neighborhood Chairman. Mrs. George Rheman, Jr.

has earned a five year pin and is active as A troop leader. Attending the meeting from Katy were Mrs. and Mrs. Fred A. RylanSheffield, Mira.

Public Invited To ConferencesAt Katy Baptist Church, Feb. 8-9 The annual San Felipe Baptist Association Evangelism Conference will be meeting at the First Baptist Church in Katy February 8 and 9. The theme of the program is "The Church of the 70'8. The Sanctuary of Christ Lutheran Church was designed not only to provide comfortable and inspiring quarters for 125 worshipers, but also to preserve the history of this old Texas church. The new wood frame and brick veneer structure is located exactly on the same spot as the old Sanctuary that served for many years. The Architects, Winters and Wilpitz, of Houston took special pains to avoid any tree removal on this nicely wooded site. As a reminder of the past, the original bell that once hung in the tower, is now placed brick in its own permanent tower without interruption to its service. Christ Lutheran Church, Pattison, Texas, was organized and the original constitution drawn up on December 14, 1890, in a private home in the Pattison community.

Persons signing the constitution were: Henry Reitz, Ferdenand Stenzel, Herman Kitzman, William Ebel, Fritz Ebel, H. Stieghan, Fritz Wohlt, H. Wohit, Carl Wenzel, Fred Hummerling, Henry Keuneke, Charlie Neumann (Neiman), John Neumann (Neiman), G. Beuner, Robert Krienke and August Ehlert. Previous to this date the Rev.

J. Trinklein had been called to he missionary-at-large In the State of Texas, Ile started at Hockley and reached westwurd to many communities, including Pattison, Sealy, and Cat Spring. It scents Rev. Trinklein was instrumental in getting the Lutherans of the Puttison community to organize. PASTORS On September 14, 1890, the Rev.

Paul G. Heckel became pustor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sealy. He lived in Cat Spring, however, and this congregation then combined with Sealy and Pattison to form one parish. No doubt Pastor Heckel led the founding of Christ Lutheran Church although his signature was not on the constitution. Pastor Heckel served his parishes 'until the spring of 1893.

The Rev. P. A. Wenzel took over the three parishes in 1809. In 1895 he was given an assistant, Candidate A.

R. Roglitz, who was ordained and installed as pastor of Cat Spring, Sealy, Pattison, and Orchard in October, 1896, He was the first pastor to resile in Sealy (the others had resided in Cat Spring). From September, 1898 to December, 1900 the Rev, Herman Schmdit came from Illinois to serve. Rev. J.

T. Hesemann served from 1901 to 1904, and Rev, Louis Heinemeier 1904 to 1910. Some of the succeeding pastors who served and guided the Lutherans at Pattison were: Rev. 0. H.

A. Hoemann, 1910 to 1917; Rev. Fritz Mueller, 1917 to 1919; Rev. M. J.

Scaer, 1920 to 1924. In 1924-1925 student H. J. Weseloh aided Pastor Scaer by preaching at Pattison. Several visiting pastors served the congregation during 1925 to 1933.

From 1933 to 1937 the congregation was served by Pastor F. W. Lammert of Cypress, who commuted once a month. In 1938 candidate Arthur Simmons of Kansas City, Missouri, accepted the call of the Pattison and Katy congregations, and was ordained and installed in January of 1940 by Rev. A.

Froehlich of Houston. Katy and Pattison congregations remained one parish until January 1953 when Memorinl Lutheran Church at Katy declared itself selfsupporting. The same year the Church at Hempstead joined Pattison and the two congregations formed one parish until Pastor A. C. Liefer accepted a call to San Benito in the early part of 1959.

Christ Lutheran Church again became a single parish until Pastor A. J. Niemann resigned in May 1964. Rev. Simmons had served until '41.

Others following were Rev. Richard Brandt, '44 to. '47; Rev. Harold Schlicker, '47 to '49; Rev, A. C.

Liefer, '50 to '59; and Rev, A. J. Niemann, 1959 to 1964. In 1965 Christ Lutheran again joined with Katy, and Rev. Alvin Musgrove agreed to serve both congregations When Pastor Musgrove left in 1969 he was followed within a short while by Pastor 0.
