March 20, 1962 fubllih»d By Hit Upper DM MoiiiM Publishing Co., Algona, Iowa MRS. JANICE STUCK! N«w> Editor Aunt Jemina, Free Pancakes, Saturday, Mar. 24 In Fenton Fenton — Aunt .Jemima, (hat genial queen of the pancake, Mil be a guest, in person, in Fento'h, next Saturday, March 24. She wUl be at Priebe's Store, supervising in the preparation and serving of free pdncakes, from* 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the general public is cordially invited to stop, see her, and most of ail to eat her pancake!.' : Her visit to Fenton is something really special; generally speaking Aunt Jemima's visits are to cities much larger than Fenton, but Priebe's * Store, after a considerable period of negotiation, managed to get the booking for Fenton. The only other appearance the genuine Aunt Jemima has made hi this area In the past several years was last year, once at Hurt where' Burt Lions Club sponsored the appearance, and the other time at Spencer. , ; Fenton business firms have a ''Welcome" sign out for all visitors, and advise a light breakfast at home, Saturday morning, or perhaps none a^ all,' because Aunt Jemima, like most women, expects to do a heap of frying and serving and the finest compliment that can be paid is to eat and enjoy the result of her efforts. "' ' " ' . ;.' ,,* Fenton Woman Gives Birth In Stormy Dash To Doctor Fenton — March 14, 1962, is a day Mr. and Mrs. Norman Bollinger and their neighbor, Marion Stucki, will.probably never forget. It all began at 3 when Bbl- linger asked Stucki to help Him get his expectant wife to the Holy Family hospital in Estherville. They contacted Arnold Hainzinger, Kpssuth county employee, who operates a snow plow, and about 3:30 a.m. he began to clear the [road to Estherville. Stucki followed the Bellingers in | his pick-up truck and about a, | mile north of Ringsted, Bellinger | stopped fearing birth was near. I Stucki said to continue on and he would join them if needed. They rode on for about two miles but had to stop again as Stucki was indeed needed in the other car. At about 4:15 a.m., two miles south of Armstrong, Mrs. Bellinger, 21, gave birth to an 8 Ib., 10 oi baby girl. Stucki hurriedly shed his coat and then sweatshirt to wrap up the baby. Mrs. Bellingers calm and precise instructions were very helpful. They kept going to Armstrong where they picked up Dr. Claire Lindholm who accompanied them to Estherville. Without the willing help of Hainzinger they would have had difficulty in reaching Armstrong. The new arrival has a sister Debbie who will be two in May. Their grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hantelman and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bellinger, and great grandmothers, Mrs. Otto Wichtendahl and Mrs. John Bellinger. Big sister Debbie is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hantelman while her mother is gone. Snowplow driver Scotty Hainzinger of Fenton had his second bout with winter's snow Wednesday night after losing the race with Ihe stork earlier in the day. While trying to reach the home of a Fenton kindergartner, Jay Borchardt, who had suffered an asthma attack, Hainzinger went into the ditch Off Highway 44 just south of Fenton. Albert Schwarzenbach, .town marshall, tried to pull out Hainzinger's plow and he, too, went into the ditch. A wrecker from a Fenton garage finally pulled out both vehicles and Hainzinger plowed his way to Estherville where Jay was hospitalized. - Memorial Fund Swea City — A memorial fund for the late Mayor Earl L. Hanson has been started by the Swea Citly Commercial club. Contributions may be made to president of the club, Ronald Johnson, or club secretary Paul Olson.
