THE PARIS LINGERIESecond Floor Tarts DEPENDABLE MERCHANDISE ONLY By IDA JEAN KAIN All right, reducers it's time for a little easy exercise.

To make sure you stay in the groove, To make it easter, we'll start from a lying-down position. Position: Lying on back on floor, arms up on floor overhead, right knee flexed, sole of right foot flat on floor, fairly close to hips. The left leg is stretched straight down. Movement: The first part of the exercise is simply to stretch pull from tip to toe, all left side, and try to center the stretch through the middle part of the figure. As you pull slim through the midsection, pull up and in with the abdominal muscles and straighten your back.

Relax and, pull again and again. Flat-Footed Position: Same, right knee bent, sole of foot flat on floor, left leg straight down. Movement: The exercise is to flex (bend) the left knee to chest, but the purpose of the exercise is to bring the middle muscles into the action, and to get the small of the back against the floor. Try it. Are you doing it slowly and concentrating the action through the abdominals or is it merely 1 leg action? Can you touch the small of your back to the floor? The action of bending knee toward chest is almost incidental--it's the middle muscles that must do the actual work.

Looking Sideways Now to slim the waist. Do this exercise sidewise to a long mirror if you one. Position: Standing on knees, arms out at sides shoulder level, abdominal muscles pulled up strongly. Movement: Bending at the waist, touch fingers to floor at one side then bend to the other side. Wait.

Are your hips trailing' If they bustle out and you slump at the waist in order to touch fingers to floor -that's wrong. this way: Sit back on your feet, arms out at sides, and from that firmer position bend sidewards, keeping a grip on the middle muscles, pulling up strongly. Bend to the right, letting the stretch be all along the left side ah, it even feels slimming! Six times in all. Mrs. James H.

Bernhardt, formerly Miss Susan McCarrel, whose church marriage ceremony was solemnized Sunday at Eugene, Ore. AN ACQUIRED ART Ability to Write Good Letter Takes Training, Experience By ANGELO PATRI To know how to write a letter so as to win the recipient's good will, even pleasure, to convey through the lines the idea that the writer is thinking kindly, affectionately, sympathetically about the recipient that day, or, if necessary, to convey a feeling of firmness and polite opposition and still keep on the safe side of antagonism, is an art that requires experience and training. It is the training that concerns us teachers who instruct children in the art of writing. Accent on Pleasure It is most important to most that they be able to write in the correct form, and use the right expression and the right tone, in a letter, than that they be able to write a book review. Few pupils will write book reviews, but all of them will, sometime or other, be under the necessity of writing an important letter.

In the lower elementary classes it is good practice to have the children write notes, very brief ones, to their parents, relatives and friends, telling about something pleasant that happened in school. Accent the pleasant element. One of the first things to teach them is to avoid writing bad news whenever possible. The note is to convey good will, good cheer, friendliness. Always Polite As the children grow older their letter writing takes on different qualities, forms and expressions.

Always they should be polite, in good form and wherever the form allows, expressive of the writer's feeling of oneness with the recipient. The friendly letter is of first importance to school children through the high schools. That is the letter they will write oftenest. The business letters belong in the classes of the business school and are of a formal pattern, easily learned. Even in those formal letters there should be a touch of friendly understanding.

The friendly letter we want does not spring out of their minds at call. It must be set there by experience. The best way to begin is to read and let the pupils read, good letters written by master letter writers. The teacher can collect these from the best in literature, the class talks one over, selects the high points, notes them, then writes a brief letter using one, just one, of the best ideas in the letter. Each teacher has his own way of doing this.

The method is not as important as the subject matter. the children to be able to write HOW TO BE AN EXPERT JUDGE of POTATO CHIPS Try This A -B- -C Test To Tell Which Potato Chips Are Best YOUR EYES see Clover Club's larger, golden brown chips.
