recalled as 5000 senior citizens talk over old times at the 74th annual Old Folks outing June 22 at Liberty park To their children and grandchildren the 70-plus'ers may smm old but when contemporaries meet the years have a way of falling back Old friends and sweethearts of many years will swap tales of school day pranks before the turn of the century They will recall their serious hopes for the future in the days when Utah still was a young territory and perhaps shed a tear for friends who did not live to see the new state This year the group will be protected from sun or rain in a new pavilion with canvas top to be used for the first time on Old Folks day Ever since May 14 1875 With but two exceptions Old Folks day has been sponsored by the old folks central committee The event was- canceled once when Brigham Young died and once during World War The new pavilion at Liberty park was erected by the city after the central committee donated $2000 to a building fund Harold Jenson finest scholars and athletes That's just what some 400 youths from ages 15 to 18 will be doing for a two-week period starting July 5 at the American Legion-sponsored Boys state Camp CL Williams The training camp will use the best housing units at Camp Williams Jordan Narrows near Lehi Utah county according to A Wiesley Boys state president In order to give those attending a chance to study city county and state elections according to the voting laws of Utah a "mythical city" will be set up Some 12 roomy barracks flanking the parade grounds each will be a county unit named after a former governor of Utah The cities will be titled for past American Legion department commanders Glade Lee to Speak Mr Wiesley said lectures will be given daily by some of Utah's authorities in their field:
