376 The BOARD OF SUPERVISORS of the County of Kern do ordain as follows; Section 1 For the general welfare and in order to afford greater social security and the material advantages of group insurance for all of the officers employees of the County of Ktrn, a system of group life, health and accident Insurance is hereby adopted. Section 2 The Board of Supervisors will enter into a master group insurance contract with any insurance company duly authorized to transact the business of group life, health accident insurance In the State of California in a form satisfactory to the Board seventy-five per cent of any duly organized group of officers and employees of this county request in writing coverage under such a contract be entered into; any such contract entered into shall provide the following benefits for those officers and employees who apply for them: (a) Life Insurance benefits; and (b) Accidental death and dismemberment benefits. Section 3 The premiums for the group Insurance benefits applied for by individual officers and employees shall be deducted by the County Auditor as a payroll deduction from the compensation of such individual officers and employees who have applied for such benefits. Such deduction shall be made to the extent authorized by such individual officers and employees. Section 4 The total amount deducted for all such premiums shall be paid monthly in one warrant drawn on the County Treasurer to the order of the insur 1 ance company which has entered tlie contract to furnish the benefits applied for.

Section 5 This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty days after its passage and prior to the expiration of fifteen days from the passage thereof, shall be published for at least one week in The Bakersfield a newspaper published in the County of Kern, State of California, with the names of the members of the Board of Supervisor voting for and against the same. The foregoing Ordinance was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern, State of California, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 23rd day of December, 1940.
