today at the funeral home. Hamilton's In Loving Memory of GEORGE IVANOVICH June 13, 2000 We little knew that morning five years ago today that god was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain was broken and nothing seems the same. But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. At the East gate of heaven we will see you, till then, we miss you so and still ask why? The George Ivanovich Family ARSHIA PRESS Clean sweep: A municipality cleaner sweeps the street after a bomb exploded Sunday near Imam Hussein Square in Tehran, Iran.

One person was killed and four were injured, hours after four bombs in southwest Iran killed as many as eight people. Pre-election attacks kill up to 9 in Iran By SORAYA SARHADDI NELSON KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS Tehran, Iran Iran's presidential election season erupted in violence Sunday, with five bombs killing as many as nine people and Iranian police beating and arresting protesters at a women's rights demonstration in Tehran. Four bombs exploded shortly after 11 a.m. local time in the southwestern city of Ahvaz, killing at least six people and wounding 70 more, the provincial governor told state-run Iranian television. Iranian journalists based in Ahvaz put the figure at eight dead and 80 wounded, however.

The fifth blast occurred about 9 p.m. local time in Tehran, killing one person and wounding four more, according to television and eyewitness accounts. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, the deadliest in the Islamic republic in more than a decade and a rarity since the Iran-Iraq war ended in 1988. But Iranian television, which is controlled by Iran's conservative powerbrokers, accused the bombers of trying to disrupt Friday's presidential elections. Iranian apathy over a flagging economy and a government in which unelected clerics wield the true power has made voter turnout a key issue for the dominant conservatives.

Three of Sunday's bombs in Ahvaz exploded outside government buildings, including the governor's office, officials said. "Unfortunately, most of those killed were women and children," the governor of Ahvaz told Iranian television. The Tehran bomb, meanwhile, exploded inside a trash can in the city's center, said one journalist. Earlier that afternoon, police clashed with protesters attempting to join a sit for women's rights outside of Tehran University, beating back people with batons and arresting at least one person. A group of nearly 200 demonstrators were allowed to continue their hourlong, peaceful protest.

User safety touted in plan on online porn domain By ANICK JESDANUN ASSOCIATED PRESS New York, N.Y. A red-light district tentatively cleared for construction on the Internet the xxx" domain is being billed by backers as giving the $12 billion online porn industry a great opportunity to clean up its act. A distinct online sector for the salacious, one with rules aimed at forbidding trickery, will reduce the chances of Internet users accidentally stumbling on porn sites, they argue. If only it were so simple. Zoning in cyberspace has always been a daunting proposition, and participation in the porn domain will be voluntary.

Critics wonder why got the OK at all when so many other proposals sit unaddressed, some for years. Nearly five years after rejecting a similar proposal, the Internet's key oversight body, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, voted 6-3 this month to proceed with ICANN staff will now craft a contract with ICM Registry the Jupiter, company that made the bid. If the board and ultimately the U.S. Commerce Department approve it, "xxx" names could appear in use by the year's end. The market unquestionably exists: Two in five Internet users visited an adult site in April, according to tracking by comScore Media Metrix.

The company said 4 percent of all Web traffic and 2 percent of all surfing time involved an adult site. As envisioned, ICM would charge $60 for each of up to 500,000 names it expects to register, $10 of which would go to a nonprofit organization that would, among other things, educate parents about safe surfing for children. The nonprofit, run by representatives of adult Web sites, freespeech, privacy and childadvocacy concerns, would determine registration eligibility. Skeptics argue, however, that porn sites are likely to keep their existing storefronts, even as they set up shop in the new 'xxx" domain name. And that will reduce the effectiveness of software filters set up to simply block all names.

The "xxx" domain "legitimizes this group, and it gives false hope to parents," said Patrick Trueman, senior legal counsel at the Family Research Council and a former Justice Department official in charge of obscenity prosecutions. The adult entertainment industry is also hardly behind "xxx" as a group. Many of its webmasters consider the domain "the first step toward driving the adult Internet into a ghetto very much like zoning laws have driven adult stores into the outskirts," said Mark Kernes, senior editor at the trade monthly Adult Video News. Stuart Lawley, ICM's chairman and president, said use of could protect companies from prosecution under a 2003 federal law that bars sites from tricking children into viewing pornography as "xxx" would clearly denote an adult site. All sites using "xxx" would be required to follow yet-to-bewritten "best practices" guidelines, such as prohibitions against trickery through spamming and malicious scripts.
