Zaiser, 3225 Terrace drive. Open Garden To Be Today The Rev. and Mrs. William J. Lockhart will be hosts at their annual open garden and peony show today at their home, "Lock-hart Gardens," 3900 Adams st.

From 50 to 100 varieties of peonies will be shown today and throughout the week, as the different varieties come into bloom, in a special show room at the Lockhart home. A peony or rose will be given each visitor. A special exhibition garden of the choicest varieties of peonies will be open to the public. Special methods of culture used to grow asters and chrysanthemums under cloth with special shading process also will be shown. Jean Sones to Be Bride Dr. and Mrs, Clement Allen Sones, 5410 Woodland announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jean Belle, to Robert Van Houten Sugden, son of Mr. and Airs. George Merritt Sugden of Beverly Hills, Cal. The wedding will take place July 2 in Des Moines.

Miss Sones was graduated from Roosevelt High school and is a student at Pomona college in Claremont, Cal. Mr. Sugden will be graduated from Pomona college June 16 and will take graduate work in agriculture at the University of California extension college at Davis, Cal. Frances Col flesh, graduated last week from St. Katharine's nrhool in Davenport, was presented with the annual piano award for the most outstanding work in piano.

The award is presented annually by Mrs. John Watzck of Seattle, formerly of Davenport, and an alumna of the school. Ellen Kate Rawson will be graduated 'tomorrow at the 144th annual commencement at Bradford Junior college in Massachusetts. Mary Ann Wilson, daughter of Senator and Mrs. George A.

Wilson, formerly of here, was graduated last week from National Cathedral School for Girls In Washington. Sh received commencement honors and was entitled to serve a cni'-ifer for the commencement service. She also was selected as the Bishop's scholar by virtue of being on the honor roll four years.
