Thursday, May 29, 1952 THE BROOKSHIRE TIMES CHURCH Brookshire Methodist Rev. Larry Stokes The annual Vacation Church School held by the Methodist Church in Brookshire will begin on Monday, June 16, and continue through Friday, June 27, it was announced this week by Rev. Larry Stokes, pastor of the church. A special "Open House" program will be presented by the Vacation Church School on Sunday evening, June 29,, as the closing feature of the school. Mrs.

George Rheman, will act as Dean of the Vacation School, and will be assisted by a corps of able teachers, who are already at work planning for the interesting courses. The courses, which will be offered for all children of Kindergarten age and older, will be "The World About Us," "Outdoors in Palestine," and "People Who Lived in Jesus' Day." The time set for the school is 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday of the two-week period. The school is open free-j of-charge ot children of all denominations. "Recreation for the Family" will be the subject of the special Family Service at the Methodist Church in Brookshire next Sunday night.

Coming at the beginning of the summer months, this timely subject should prove of great interest to families of all ages. Among the topics to be discussed will be "The Need for Recreation," "Public Recreational Facilities," and "What the Church Can Do to Meet Recreational Needs." The program will begin at 7:30 p.m., and everyone is invited to come. The Morning Worship Service at 10:50 a.m. next Sunday will mark the annual observance of the "birthday" of the Christian Church, as special emphasis is given to the Pentecost experience of the early Christians. The sermon for the morning will be devoted to the importance of such an experience in present- day life.

Katy Baptist Rev. Wm. Davis The Vacation Bible School has opened with good attendance. The school will close on Friday, June 6th. Mrs.

B. L. Fisher is principal. James Langley, Youth evangelist, John Breland, singer and Miss Martha Paul Rogers, counselor and pianist will be with the local church through the 8th of June. We are looking forward to a great revival June 1- 7th.

There were 207 in Sunday School and 87 in Training Union last Sunday. There were 232 men and boys at Brotherhood meeting. Prayer services are being held throughout this week for the coming revival. The Young people meet each night in the Young People's Department and adults meet in the auditorium. The Building Committee meets Saturday night at 7:30 to open and consider bids on the new educational building.

All members are urged to be present. All boys and girls are invited to attend. Mrs. Billy Fisher is principal of the school. A Youth Revival is planned for the week of June 1.

This will be held by Rev. James Langjey, assisted by John Breeland and Miss Mary Jo Rodgers. The San Felipe Baptist Association Brotherhood met in Katy Monday night with 232 present from the local territory. Mr. Olin Miles, Supt of Buckner Boys Ranch, near Burnet, was the speaker and films were shown on the home.

A barbecue dinner was served to those who came. Mr. Jack Jinks announced that 17 boys will attend the Piney Woods amp for Royal Ambassadors from the local church. Mrs. Ince is director of the Girls Auxiliary and they also will attend this camp at a future date.

T. freight office at Katy has received notice that he is no longer needed, due to a decrease in business at this time. According to G. C. McDonald, agent, the M.

K. T. lines have done $360,000 to $400,000 worth of business from that office during the first five months of this year, and over a million dollars worth of business was done by the Katy freight office last year. In spite of the fact that these are comparatively quiet months, there, are carloads of oil shipped from Johnsue, carloads of cars, tractors, liquid and sacked fertilizer being shipped into Katy almost daily. More fertilizer has been delivered to the Katy Warehouse and the Texas Liquid Fertilizer Coirfpanys than this time last year, indicating an increase in the yield of rice, of which the M.

K. T. lines will profit. It is the desire of the business men of the Katy locality that an efficient clerk be on hand at all times to assist Mr. McDonald in giving the prompt service that is necessary for fast moving industry.

They hope the Katy Railroad officials will reconsider. Mr. Woolridge is a man that can hold up the railroad's policy "there is no substitute for railroad service." Mr. Joe Tipton and son Dennis and his mother, Mrs. J.

Willie B. Lee was a visitor in the L. A. Spencer home last Thursday and Friday. Mr.
