L. Kochelhoffer and family Waterloo are in Fredric Ann cottage for a two weeks' vacation. John McDowell and wife Waterloo are visiting with G. D. McDowell in Outlet Park.

From Ottumwa. Charles W. Johns and family of Ottumwa are here for a few days in a cottage on the south shore. The Misses Florence Burch, Jeanette Summy and Opal Thornburg of Pleasantville are located in a south shore cottage for a 10- day outing. Mr.

Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Fligg of Fairfield will spend the week in a cottage on the south shore.

Giles and family of Des Moines will be here a north shore cottage for their. vacation. Near South Shore. Homer J. Young and family have come to Clear Lake from Garner to make this their future home.

Kittrell of Waterloo will be here a week's vacation. Zarnow Studios Plan Series of Dance Recitals Sylvia and Paul Zarnow have issued invitations for a series of studio recitals closing the fifth summer session of the Zarnow duo dance studio. The first recital will be given Tuesday evening with the following group of pre-school children being featured. Diana Dickey, Emma Lou Sayers, Miriam Lovejoy, Marguerite Haggerty, Dolores Ann Witmer, Marjorie Burgum, Carol Zahl, Stanley Tunney Baldwin, Jimmy Witmer and Jackie Reid. Other dancers will be Barbara Ellen Colegrove, Betty Ann Berry, Rose Ann Smith, Madelyn Elaine Smith, Donna Jean Sayers, Florine Boudewyns, Norma Lee Carlan, Helen Berkemann, Maxine Sandberg, Phyllis Grant, Virginia June Dickey and Betty Brown.

W. Club to Meet Here Monday The August meeting of the Des Moines Business and Professional Women's club will take the form of a 6:45 p. m. dinner Monday at the Golf and Country club. The club officers will be in charge of the program.

During the dinner hour music will be furnished by the B. P. W. trio, composed of Evelyn Ash, Lil- lian Clemens and Fannie Scott. Business.

Following dinner there will be a short business meeting with reports of the regional conference at St. Paul in July given by Margaret Brick, Alice Boyer and Lorraine Simpson. A surprise feature has been arranged by Carrie M. Bell, program chairman. Frances Coates is arranging transportation and those desiring it should meet at the Kirkwood hotel.

Charles Whalen, are spending the weekend in Knoxville at the Ed Caffery home. They were accompanied to Knoxville by Agnes Rose Whalen. They will return to Des Moines for another visit before returning to New York. Mrs. D.

Volland of Iowa City, treasurer of the Iowa Federation of Women's clubs, has undergone a serious operation in the New York Neurological hospital according to Dr. Volland. In a letter Dr. Volland stated that surgeons had operated on the spinal canal near the neck region for the infection. Recent reports are that Mrs.

Volland survived but it in a serious condition. Mrs. Volland was taken ill while on trip to Europe in company with a party sponsored by the National Business and Professional Women's clubs. She became ill on the outward bound voyage and on her arrival in Paris consulted physicians in the American hospital there. She again consulted physicians in Berlin and received no relief and took a steamer from Hamburg for New York.

There she was met by Dr. Volland July 28 and taken immediately to the hospital where the operation was performed last week. Personals Mrs. D. E.
