(Spot: 6:30 to -7 KPO). Like mother, like daughter, is both true and untrue in the case of Adrienne Matzenauer, who will figure prominently in Sigmund Romberg's transcontinental tonight. Like- Matzenauer Mere, she is a singer.

But unlike Margaret Matzenauer, famed "Met" contralto, the daughter goes in for blues songs. Tonight she will sing "Somebody Ought to Be Told," from Romberg's "May Wine." Josephine Tumminia's contribution tonight will be "The Waltz Song" from "Romeo and Juliet." Cora Sue Collins and Lionel Barrymore will be featured in their usual roles. (Spot: 6:30 to 7, KPO). Tonight's presentation of "California's Hour" will offer a salute to San Diego. Half dozen performers, chosen from a large list of contestants living in San Diego, will be heard with Conrad Nagel, master ceremonies, and Jane Froman.

The San Diego contingent includes: Kay DeVal, blues singer; Barbara Steinbach, 13-year-old pianist; Robert Leib, violinist; Carmen Conger, soprano; Kenny Gardner, crooner, and Norman Steinbach, 20-year-old marimba soloist. (Spot: 9 to 10, Monte Blue will be presented to the radio audience by Ben Alexander, Hollywood Boulevardier, tonight. (Spot: 10:15 to 10:30, KPO). Leo P. Anderson, president of the Los Angeles County Republican Assembly, and a member of the Warren uninstructed Republican delegation, subject, will "The speak Story of tonight on the Hearst-Merriam Delegation Pledged to Landon was Entered in California." (Spot: 9:30 to 9:45, KPO and KFI).

Immortality in the world of music -is not conferred upon arias and symphonies alone. Sometimes it happens that the humbler theme outlives the more magnificent one. Members of a certain school of critics are beginning to tell us that the idea of survival of the fittest does not apply in the realm of creative art. I beg leave to disagree with them. If "Olds Folks at Home," "Celeste Aida," "Swanee River" and the "Twilight of the stand the test of time it will not be by accident nor intent, but through some innate quality of ever-livingness.

Examples of the longevity of the simple and unpretentious in music are found in the works of Stephen Foster, whose life will be relived for us tonight by Lawrence Tibe. bett during the Radio Theater presentation. Tibbett, who will assume the role of Foster in "Harmony Lane," an adaptation from the picture of the same name, will sing as the real Stephen Poster, probably never dared to singing. (Spot: 6 to 7, KFRC). 'THIRTY YEARS AFTER' Modern students of journalism will tell how a journalistic emergency was met 30 years ago when they take the air during the Stanford broadcast period tonight.

Students in the division of journalism at Stanford have written a dramatization titled "How San Francisco Newspapers Were Published on April 18-19, 1906." Members of Sword and Sandals will present the dramatization, which. is in four episodes. (Spot: 8 to 8:15, KGO). Last Monday night the Goose Creek Parson stepped aside 1 to make way for the President of the United States. Tonight, although the President is speaking again, the Parson will not have to postpone his program, for the hours do not conflict.
