Osterberger, who holdi aeven school records, completed 13 of 30 passes for 232 yards as Drake finished the season with a (-4 record. Osterberger eitended his total offense record to 7,519 yards. He became the first Drake player to pass for more than 7,000 yards in a career, finishing with 7,012.

Osterberger set the records after Drake dropped its football program to Division III, which does not allow athletic scholarships. Northern Iowa began Its preparation fof the NCAA Division I-AA football payoffs Saturday night with a 82-11 victory against Clarion. Northern Iowa had its highest scoring output in 28 games. 24. The 14th-ranked Panthers jumped to 88-1 halftlma lead against their NCAA Division II opponent in cruising to their 10th consecutive home victory. Panther quarterback' Jay Johnson watched tha second' half from the sideline after passing for 288 yards and two touchdowns In the first half. Another freshman, split end Tim Mosley, caught his first pass, a 61-yarder from Warner, that led to a 12-yard touchdown run by Charles Young.

Warner completed four of sit passes for 76 yards. The Panthers' rolled up (27 yards, 834 passing an 193 rushing. Tight end Tim caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mike Carter.

Clarion gained 182 yards, using numerous formations to keep the Panthers' defense off balance. But the Panthers simply had too much offensive -They rolled up 850 yards in the first half. Johnson had a hand in three of Northern Iowa's first four touchdowns. He hit split end Rory Fedder-sen on a 16-yard pass, threw 7 yards to tight end Chris Nuss and ran 1 yard for another touchdown. Feddersen caught his Clarion cornerback Damon Avery on his back.

Feddersen stretched the ball across the goal line with 4 Mi minutes left The Panthers had another touchdown called back when Nusslwas called for interference in the end zone midway through the second quarter. Nuss caught a 80-yard pass later in the drive that led to Johnson's touchdown run. I VI Johnson gave way to Warnerate in the first half after completing of 14 passes for 238 yards. Charles Lister opened the scoring for Northern Iowa with a 1-yard. run.

Brian Mitchell made his 18th consecutive field goal, a 82-yard kick, later In the first quarter. Freshman Ed Threatt ended the Panthers' scoring binge on an 8-yard run with 4 minutes 25 seconds left in the first half. The Panthers will end the season schedule Saturday night at the UNI-Dome against Northern Arizona. Gary Yagelski, who played from 1979 through 1982, held the record of 4,795 -y' yards. "It is sad to end my four years here," Osterberger said. "It probably hasn't hit me yet. Maybe It will in two or three days." Cook was a wide receiver, place- i kicker and punter during his career, i He separated a shoulder in practice in early October and had surgery Oct 8. That ended his job as a receiver.
