THE BROeKSHIRE TIMES JOHNSUE NEWS By Don Blanion Marjorie Orr entertained the Thursday night club and their husbands with a dinner followed by bridge at the recreation hall May 10. Phyliss Wooley won high, Elsie Kinsey, second, Mr. and Mrs. Yarbrough won couples prize and Jay Kinsey bingo. Chicken pie, sweet potatoes, string beans, combination, hot rolls, iced tea and coconut cake were served.

The couples bridge club met at the recreation hall Friday night with Elsie Kinsey and Nina Hubbard as hostesses. Lorene Edwards won high ladies, Cecil Hilliard high for men, Opal Hilliard second for ladies and O. H. Edwards, second for men. Mr.

and Mrs. Ed. Murray won high for couples and Mr. and Mrs. C.

H. Baucum bingo. Cherry pie with whipped cream and coffee were served. Gerry Mangum was hostess for the Monday night bridge club at the recreation hall. Louise Blanton won high, Frances Galloway second, Shirley Lindaur guest and Tiny Baucum bingo.

Chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches, potato chips, olives, pickles and cokes were served. Guests were Shirley Lindaur, Mary Lou Barnette and Camille Simpson. Mr. and Mrs. J.

E. Clayton and girls spent the Mother's Day week-end in Stephenville and Desdimona with their mothers. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brooks visited her parents in Huntsville Friday, May 18th, 1951 over the week-end.

Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Blanton visited Mr.

Blanton's parents in Tomball Saturday. Mrs. Hazel Ainsworth is home and doing very well, having had an operation recently. Mrs. Albert Eckenhorst has been very ill but is very much improved.

E. J. Mathis has recovered from the mumps. Marjorie Gordon was hostess for the W. S.

FRANCES WILSON Phone 129-J-3 Edward Eugene Sledge Dies Suddenly at Home in Hempstead Edward Eugene Sledge, 64, passed away at 9:30 a.m., May 13, at his home in Hempstead following a heart attack. Mr. Sledge was born June 20, 1887 in Oakwood, Texas. He attended school in the Bracy Island community and at Draughn's Business College in Houston.

He married Miss Cynthia Etna Morgan at Bracy Island and to them were born one daughter and four sons. Mr. Sledge is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. John Carl Amsler of Hempstead; three sons Roland, Harry and Lee Allen all of Houston; one granddaughter; three grandsons great-grandson; four sisters and two brothers. One son proceeded him in death.

Services were held from the Methodist Church of Hempstead at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 14 with the pastor, Rev. H. F. Neilson officiating.
