Dark Help Trick Tribe By Seo Taylor. (Sporti Editor, Th Regiiter.) CLEVELAND, OHIO-It was a rather dull game on a dyll day, this third succes-ive triumph of the New York Giants over the vanishing In dians here Friday. The National Leaguers won! Just about as they pleased by Requiring a substantial lead off Mike Garcia, the Mexican pitcher from Visalia, the fellow they say, rightly or wrongly, never Garcia. Wins "the big one." The victors scored once in the first Inning, thrice in the third and wound up with a 6-2 trumph behind the splendid pitching of Puerto Uican Ruben Gomez and Hoyt Wilhelm, the relief specialist who took over the Giants' pitching chore with one out in the seventh after the Indians had scored their second run. IN GRINDING out their three scores in the third inning, a cluster that clinched the contest, some "inside baseball" was played for the first time in this Series.

In the first two games both teams played straightaway. Only SITTIN' IN With the Athletes twice were hit-Rnd-run plays attempted and seldom did runners attempt to steal. There was no fancy stuff. The managers let their runners perch on baae awaiting Terhaps the proximity of the stands just inside the two foul lines. Inviting home runs or perhaps doubles against the walls, accounted for this.

But in the third inning Friday, after Al Dark led off with a single and third baseman Hank Majeakl, who had displaced the rrippled Al Rosen in the Cleveland lineup, was playing in for a bunt, Don Mueller neatly pushed a hit past the third Backer. Willie Mays, destined to be the leading hitter of the day with three singles, hit sharply to Majeski and Dark, who had advanced to third on Mueller's hit, was caught in a rundown when Tie was trapped between third and home. Mueller and Mays moved up to third and second, respectively, nn the out. Manager Al Lopez had Garcia walk Hank Thompson purposely. That apparently was just what Durocher wanted.

CLEVELAND, OHia-Indian pitchers finally proved that Dusty Rhodes Is only human after all, but not until baseball's new superman and his wonderous weapon had thrust the Giants to the threshold of the world championship Friday. It was barely a contest after the Alabama wizard rammed his third pinch-hit in three days for a 3-0 New York lead in the third inning. The bold, confident Giants survived the frantic Indians' game closing gestures to win, 6-2, and stand poised at the door of the National League's first big pri.e since 1946.

They're hefty favorites to become the second entry from their side of the baseball tracks to make it an economy-size, four-game package today. Only the miracle Braves of 1914 ever completed a championship spin in four games against the American League. The 1922 Giants were 4-0 over the Yan kees, but there was a tie game involved. The desperate Indians will give Bob Lemon a second try at the National League upstarts today. Bob did all right until Rhodes' tenth-inning homer In the opener.
