Obituary. Joseph Allen, son of Joseph and Katie Allen. was born in the Cherokee Nation, Georgia, September 16 1834. Died near McCune, Jannary 11, 1922, age 87 years, 3 months, 25 days. In 1837 his parents moved to Franklin County, Illinois.

There he was raised and spent his childhood days. He was married to Mrs. Margaret (Logan) Allen, of Illinois, in 1861. To this union four children were born. In 1867 he moved to Cherokee County, Kansas, remaining here until 1875, when he moved to Erath ty.

Texas. Staying there only a short time, he returned to Kansas, where he remained until his death. He leaves one sister, Susan Wilson, of Houston, two sons, Lewis J. and John of near McCune, and one daughter, Agnes Wilson of McCune: also two step-sons, William Riley of Miami. Leonard of near Columbus.

and one step-daughter, Lucinda Kennedy of near McCune, and several other relatives. One daughter and one step-daughter having gone On before. He also leaves 25 grandchildren and 36 great grand-children. February, 1864, he enlisted in company 48th regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry and was with Sherman on his famous march througn Georgia. Was in several battles, sixteen: in all and was wounded Decemher 13th.
