SENECA Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jensen were hosts to the Seneca Modern Mixers at their home last Sunday evening with 500 played at five tables and high prizes being won by Calvin Vaudt and Mrs. Wayne Nyman. Low prizes went to Ted Jensen and Mrs. Wayne Ohnemus, and travel prize was won by Ted Jensen. The next tegular club meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. John Johannesen on Tuesday afternoon, March 5. Seneca Progressive Farmers 4-H Club met at the home of Jeffrey Bauer Monday evening, Feb. 12, with Randy Johnson as co-host. Jeffrey and Randy gave talks. During the business meet- ing plans were made to hold a card party Saturday evening, March 2 at the Lone Rock Legion Hall as a fund-raising project. Tickets are on sale by the members and will also be available at the door. Food Shower BURT - Ladies of the Burt U.P.W. are sponsoring a Food Shower for Rev. and Mrs. Russell Markkula. Markkula and family of Avoca, Wise., have accepted the invitation from the local Presbyterian parishioners to fill the pulpit left vacant July 1,1967 by the resignation of Rev. Bruce Calbreath. The Markkulas plan to move into the manse Friday, March 1. Popular Spot St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Is lands, was the most popular Caribbean cruise ship port last year. In a list of the top ten cruise ship destinations reported by the Caribbean Travel Association, St. Thomas led Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Martinique, Curacao, Barbados, Haiti, Aruba, Guadeloupe and Grenada. i i i X \ \ GOOD NEIGHBORS KNOW AROUND THE TOWN& COUNTRY Meet Bill Paetz Of Algona Our Good Neighbor this week is William R. Paetz, who farms 380 acres, seven miles east and two miles north of Algona in Plum Creek township. The farm is rented from his mother, Mrs. Emma Paetz, who lives in another house on the same place. Mr. Paetz raises mostly grain, some livestock and a herd of Shorthorn beef cattle. He was born and raised on the same farm, graduated from Algona High School, and after graduation farmed with his father, Carl Paetz, until his death, and then went on his own. His hobby is photography to some extent, and at the present time is an elder in the Trinity Lutheran church, Algona. His wife is the former Norma Ketelson, who formerly lived south of Algona, and they are the parents of two daughters, Marilyn, a pharmacy student at S.U.I., and Christal, an eighth grade student at Algona public school. William has three 'sisters, Mrs. Randall Clark, Plum Creek township, Mrs. Berl Priebe, Cresco township, and Helen, who lives at home with her mother. Mr. Paetz commented that he thought there should be better "communication" between town and country.
