Upper DM Molnes - Thursday, Feb. 8, 1968 Several From Whiffemore At Grain Meeting WHITTEMORE - Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. James Kollasch, Mr. and Mrs. William Bormann, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Gerber, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Steier, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Elbert, Maurice Fickbohm and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bormann attended the 64th annual convention of the Farm Grain Dealers Association of Iowa, Jan. 29-30, in Des Moines. They represented the Whittemore Cooperative Elevator, locally owned and farmer-controlled cooperative. The wives attending the meeting were entertained by a style show and luncheon at Younkers Tea Room. The annual meeting was climaxed by an evening of entertainment at the KRNT Theater. Representing the Fenton Cooperative Elevator were Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Berkland, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bierstedt, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Jentz, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wehrspan, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Lura, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Voigt, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eimers and Mr. and Mrs.Darrel Dreyer. Local Market Hog Show Winners - 0 - SONS GRADUATE Rev. and Mrs. Cleo Kautsch left for Iowa City to attend exercises in which their son Myron and Eddie Maahs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Maahs, graduated at the University of Iowa Saturday. - o - AT OBSERVANCE A group of relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Seymour, former superintendent of the Whittemore light plant, went to Madison, Nebr. to help the Seymours celebrate their golden wedding anniversary last weekend. Those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gengler, Whittemore, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ristau, Eagle Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gengler, Armstrong, Mrs. Frank Brink and Mrs. Joe Wollner, Bancroft. Mrs. Seymour is a sister of the late Mrs. George Gengler. En- route home they visited at the John Gengler home at Oyens. - o - IS HONORED Mr. and Mrs. Martin (Butch) Potratz were at Qulncy, El. Monday, Jan. 29, where they attended the meeting of MoorMan salesmen. Mr. Potratz was one of the 157 top men honored and he also attended a session where he learned additional, ways in serving livestock men In the future. -o- Mr. and Mrs. For rest Gilmore entertained a group of relatives at their borne Wednesday night at cards. The first annual Market Hog Show, sponsored by the Kossuth County Pork Producers, was very successful with 127 hogs entered and shown at the Algona Livestock Auction Thursday. Champion in the live class was Don Lickteig, Algona. Reserve champion was Randy Kuecker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Kuecker Placing first in the carcass class in "on the foot' judging was Tom Bernhard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bernhard of Fenton. In second place was Ray Laabs of Lone Rock. The official placing of the carcass contest will be announced later I Winner of the adult judging contest was Richard Olson of Swea City with 146 out of 180 points. Second was Rodney Scuffham, Algona, Franklin Rusch, Whittemore, Olenius of Ringsted. Winners of the junior judging contest was Tom Baas, West Bend.
