Society Club And News Travel Plans Are Made by Persons Here TANY of the persons who go away frequently on short trips must be planning to stay home this weekend. Perhaps, this isn't the best of weather for traveling or perhaps they're saving up for future sojourns. Reports of several trips that are being planned the end of the month have come to our ears.

Mr. and Mrs. L. Call Dickinson and son, Dicky, 1245 Thirty-ninth are planning to leave the middie of the month for Washington, D. where Mr.

Dickinson will go on business. Mrs. Dickinson and son will visit for six weeks with her parents, Gen. and Mrs. Roderick Carmichael.

Mr. and Mrs. William Black will leave the end of the month for a motor trip to the east. They will stop in Chicago, Detroit and New York: where they will visit friends relatives. They plan Citya to be gone about two months.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Leland returned Friday night from a two weeks', stay in Wichita, Kan. Julian Brody returned Friday from a business trip to Omaha.

Mrs. W. H. Rust of Glidden will arrive Monday to attend the D. A.

R. convention here and be the guest for a week of W. airs. R. Armstrong, 2617 Kingman blvd.

Mr. Rust will join his wife here next weekend. Mrs. Armis planning a bridge and luncheon party for her guest next Thursday. Mitchell Charnley of Ames 18 the weekend guest of Mr.

and Mrs. William P. Black. Mrs. Russell Forty-first from a two Walker with her Mrs.

W. L. Rankin, 1510 returned weeks' visit in parents, Mr. and Stunkard. A group of Des Moines women, the Mesdames Alfred S.

Ambler, Russel L. Rankin and Carl O. Vigren will go to Ames today to attend the Society of Mayflower Descendants meeting at the home of Mrs. Louis B. Schmidt.

Mrs. Mahala T. Hudson, 1330 Fourteenth is confined at the S. B. A.

hospital in Topeka, Kan. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Cairns left Friday night by motor to spend the weekend in St. Joseph, with Mrs.

Cairns' parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Balderson, formerly of Des Moines.

John Lovejoy will motor to Grinnell Sunday to meet his mother, Mrs. J. E. Lovejoy, and accompany her back to Des Moines. John A.

Hanna, who has been spending the winter in Oakland, will leave Monday to return to his home near Ankeny. Mrs. H. A. Poley IngerBoll apartments is visiting her sister in Minneapolis.

Miss Blanche Wingate is ill at her homo, 3924 Ingersoll ave. Mrs. Harry Lang and Mrs. Sylvia Robertson of Sioux City, Mrs. Edith Smith of Jefferson and Mrs.

Asa Jones of Charter Oak spent Friday in Des Moines where they attended the funeral of Mrs. John W. Burgett. Paul Olson, Everett Schultz and 'Albert Robertson, members of Delta Zeta Chi fraternity at Drake university, left Thursday to spend the weekend in Milaca, Minn. Miss Hazel Brown is visiting her parents in Emmetsburg.

Huglin Recovers In Ohio; To Take New Job April 1 Andrew J. Huglin, who has been in a critical condition in a Toledo, hospital is out of danger and will be able to assume his duties April 1 as vice president of the Diamond National bank at Pittsburgh, according to word received here. Mr. Huglin, who was formerly a vice president of the Iowa-Des Moines National Bank and Trust was en route to Pittsburgh to assume his new position when he was stricken with internal hemorrhages caused by an ulcer. Duncan to Be Editor Of Ames Publication (The Register's Iowa News AMES, Joseph Duncan of Lineville, junior in technical journalisri at Iowa State college, has been appointed editor of the Iowa Agriculturist, student agricultural by publication magazine's at Iowa publication board.

S. Schmacker and D. V. Pearlman. Negro Poet-Lecturer Says 'Blues' Negro Folk Songs Langston Hughes in Address at the Y.

W. C. A. Langston Hughes, widely known Negro poet, novelist and lecturer, Friday night brought to a Des Moines audience the whimsical humor and touching pathos of his race. Appearing at the Y.

W. C. A. under auspices of the organization's committee on Colored work, Mr. Hughes gave a clear picture of his life thus far as reflected in his poetry, which he read.

WINTERSET DRY CLUBS PLANNED Hamlin to Organize Allied Forces. Extending work of the Allied Prohibition, George Hamlin, executive secretary of the Iowa Christian Endeavor union, will go to Winterset, Sunday night to speak at a union meeting of churches there. He will organize both allied citizens and allied youth forces there. Daniel Poling and his group of dry leaders will return to Iowa the last week of April to campaign, he announced. The prohibition speakers appeared in Des Moines several weeks ago.

They are touring the country. On their return they will speak in Sioux City, Council Bluffs, Ames, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and Marshalltown. Des Moines Police Hunt Missing Man Police were asked Friday night to search for James Kochheiser, a 26, of 3901 East Twenty-eighth who disappeared shortly after 8 p. m. Friday from a garage at the rear of 1315 Capitol where he had been staying with friends.

His friends told police he had been unemployed. REFUNDS ISSUE OF ROAD BONDS Junction Cuts Interest Rate. Road bonds totaling $13,000, issued by Valley Junction in 1923 for improving the highway between Des Moines and Valley Junction, were refunded Friday. The refunding bonds bear 5 per cent interest as compared to the former bonds on which 6 per cent was paid. The result is a saving of $130 a year to Valley Junction.

The 6 per cent bonds, held by five residents of Valley Junction, do not mature for several years, but an agreement was reached between the municipality and bondholders by the terms of which the bond exchange was made at par. The new bonds, which City Treasurer F. D. Hadden delivered Friday, are optional bonds and may be retired whenever the municipality desires. Hearing Opens For 3 Held On Entering Charge Hearing for three youths on breaking and entering charges was opened Friday in municipal court.

Fred Rainwater, 20, 2237 East Walnut Clarence Thomas, 22, 12832 20, Logan 2936 East and Walnut Clarence Car- are charged with breaking and entering a restaurant at 2402 East Grand Feb. 20. After presentation of testimony for the prosecution and a part of the defense, the hearing was continued until this morning. Liquor Agents Arrest Three, Seize Alcohol Three persons were held Friday night after the city liquor squad raided a restaurant at 914 Hull operated by Mrs. E.

A. McSherry, 44, of 3010 East Seventh st. and seized a quart of alcohol. Those held were Mrs. McSherry, A.

F. Carlson, 63, of 3109 East Ninth and Ollie Price, 35, of 1205 Eighth st. Carlson and Miss Price were arrested several days ago in connection with theft reported, at the Carlson pharmacy, 844 Hull operated by T. W. Carlson.
