6-Algona (la.) Upper Des Meines Tuesday, Feb. 6, 1968 Fertilizer Expert One Of Speakers At Farm Clinic RONALD L. GATES Farm Shows, the producer of the Corn-Soybean Clinic coming to Algona on Thursday, Feb. 8, in the Garrigan High School auditorium, starting at8:30a.m.,say that the fertilization story to be told at the clintc promises to be one of the most informative ever presented. Covering all aspects of proper crop fertilization will be Ronald L. Gates of the Smith-Douglass Fertilizer Co. His topic title is "Kick Off Profits by Boosting Yields." Gates, a native of Maryville, Mo., is a graduate in agronomy of Iowa State. With Smith-Douglass, Gates has held sales positions in Iowa and Minnesota and is presently assigned to the area of marketing for Smith-Douglass. He is married and the father of two children. Armstrong VFW post commended ARMSTRONG - The Arm- VFW post was cited at the 10th District convention at Clarion for continued membership attainment. Voar oriter SALESMAN IN YOUR AREA: EARL ZEIGLER Miss Schmalen Services Held At West Bend Services for Miss Christena Schmalen, 69, were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in West Bend, with burial in West Bend cemetery. Schellhammer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Miss Schmalen died Wednesday morning Jan. 31 at the Haywood Nursing Home in Emmetsburg following a lengthy illness. Born in Webster City, Miss Schmalen moved to West Bend with her parents at the age of three, where she was educated. She kept house for her two broth- ers for several years.
