Upper Det Main** Thursday, Jan. 18, I960 Grapplers Are 31-11 Winners; E-Grove Next Algona High School's wrestlers upped their season mark to 5-2 with an easier than expected, 31-11 dual meet victory at Webster City Wednesday night. The charges of Coach Champ Martin have a pair of North Central Conference dual meets on tap this week, beginning with a rugged one at Eagle Grove Wednesday night. The locals then hit the road to Iowa Falls Saturday. Algona was the last team to blemish Eagle Grove's string of 28 wins on the mat with a draw, 19-19, here last season. Algona's Junior Varisty, as usual, had to forfeit in a pair of weights and still posted a 29-15 victory in the curtain-raiser, as Dave Simpson and Steve Fitzpatrick registered falls and Mike Putney, Wayne Taylor, Tom Laing, Jerry Simpson, Ferris Fett, Steve Willrett and Pat Elbert took decisions. Sentral's girls led all the way, holding 14-10, 38-26 and 59-39 leads at the quarter buzzers on the way to victory. Cindy Lockwood counted 30 points and Betty Wehrspan 24 for the winners, while Marcia Engerbretson scored 24 for Thompson. The boys game was settled in the final half as Sentral held the upper hand, 15-14, at the quarter and 34-32 at halftime. Ken Marlow, Sentral's high- scoring center, got in foul trouble early and played only half the game, winding up with four points for the night. Meanwhile, Bob Bierle counted 21 points, Mueller 19 andKerber 13 for Sentral, while Harlson canned 30 for the winners. The seventh grade won, 41-36, as Gary Walker scored 11 points, Mickey Anderson nine and Linn Boms eight, while the eighth grade, with Jim Cubit and Steve Rochlean each getting 10 markers, came through, 40-32. Lakota Drops Two At Ringsted R1NGSTED—Winning a pair of State Line Conference basketball games Friday night, the Ringsted girls won by two points In overtime, 47-45, over Lakota. In boys action, Ringsted defeated Lakota 61-56. Rita Geesman scored 18 points for high point honors for Ringsted with Dianne Nlelson adding 13 points. Joyce Leonard scored 28 points for Lakota. The Lakota boys led by one point at the end of the first half 33-32.
