The Sunday School Institute of Des Moiuea district, met pursuant to call ot the Presiding Elder yester day morning at Wesleytbapel, and passed the day in most profitable session. The Iustitute was called to order at SJi o'clock, aLd was opened by devotional exorcises, prayer offered by Rev.

A. C. Williams, of the Filth Street charge, and Rev. J. C.

Read. An organization was effected by choosing Rev. J. G. Dimmitt President, and Rev.

T. McK. Stuart, Secretary. The forenoon was taken up in the discussion of the topics as arranged on the published pro gramme, the first taken up being, "How shall we secure the attendance of Sunday School scholars at church," which was opened by Rev. J.

W. Adair, in a few remarks that were plain, pointed and practical, followed by Revs. Pomeroy, Williams and Wilson. On the question of Sunday School music, Rev. Stuart opened the discussion, taking exceptions to much of the Sunday School music of the present time, and In well timed remarks showed errors practiced very generally.

He was followed by Revs. Pomeroy, Wilson and Adair. Dr. Wilson explained his method of preparing a Sunday School lesson, which elicited a desultory discussion, in which Messrs. Pomeroy, Clammer, fcteuart and Wright participated, the Doctor answering all objections to his manner of proceeding in the premises.

Elder Dimmitt also joined in the discussion, and in the end many methods were partly ventilated. The question drawer was opened and Dr. Wilson appointed to answer the questions as read by the Secretary. He did so in a happy and appropriate vein, though many of them called ont sharp and interesting debate. With the singing of that grand hymn or Charles Wesley "Jesus lover of my soul." and benediction by Elder Dimmitt, the nior n-Ing session adjourned to half past two in the afternoon.

At the hOTir adjourned to the Institute met, and after devotional exercises, were entertained by the discussion of "Object of Sabbath School teaching." with Elder Dimmitt Wiling. The discussion was entered into by several, after which came Teacher's meeting," introduced by Rev. Wlllianii The criticisms and suggestions that followd were full of interest, and some at least were benefitted by the discussion. Rev. Clammer spoke on the relation of the Sunday School to the family," in a manner that carried with It the importance of the family more closely attending to the Interests of the Sunday School everywhere.

In the evening there was a general gathering of the Sunday School and congregation, the exercises being of great in' terest, and most attentively listened to. lies. Mr. Pomeroy gave a black-board sermon, which was one of great instruction to the little folks, not excepting the older ones. There were other exercises of equal interest and importance during the evening, and the institute closed after three profitable sessions.

That the labors of the institute will be productive of good there can be no doubt. The Sunday: Scoool interest is one that needs no commendation, and one of the good influences that cannot be over estimated. Cttr Council Adjourned Session."
