For seven years of service Galesburg Register-Mall, Galesburg, Wednesday, Nov. 2, 1977 11 Volunteer cited at FISH rally Leola Baker, 810 E. Berrien was honored as a 7-year member of PISH, a helping-hand phone service, at a rally Tuesday in Sandburg Mall's Community Room. The rally marked the seventh year of the organization. Chaplain Lewis Root, coordinator, praised Mrs.

Baker, saying she gives what everyone covets more than money her time. PISH volunteers talked to visitors and new volunteers Tuesday about the role of the organization. PtSH is a 24-hour, daily answering service operating at Cottage Hospital. Volunteers talk from their homes with people having problems. The caller is reassured as the volunteer attempts to unravel what sometimes appears a hopeless situation.

At times the caller may receive help from his own church or from a social service organization or professional dealing with problems like drug or alcohol abuse or depression and suicide. If a call for transportation or food comes, volunteers in those areas answer the need on a one time basis. Last night Richard Magliozzi, Knox County United Way director, thanked FISH for its service to the community. Letters of appreciation also were read from Spoon River Mental Health Center, the Salvation Army and the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Mayor Robert Kimble has proclaimed Nov.

1-5 FISH Week and the organization has a goal of gaining 30 additional volunteers. FISH has only one meeting a year and no dues are charged. Anyone desiring information about the service should dial 343-7807. Deaths and funerals ARTHUR P. BERGREN BIGGSVILLE Arthur F.
