Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens is han-dling arrangements. DOCTOR FROM PAGE IB couldn't comment about specific cases. But she said in general, it's harder to win a criminal conviction than to win a judgment in a civil lawsuit or a suspension in a professional-licensing case. "That's something we would consider in any criminal case: whether we can prove it beyond a reasonable doubt," she said. In general, she said, citizens who raise allegations of criminal behavior are informed when her office decides whether to press charges.

She declined to comment on Luthens' complaint about her office's lack of response. According to the settlement Haddad reached with the licensing board, if he ever regains his Iowa medical license, he would have to have a female healthcare professional present whenever he treats a female patient. He also would have to complete a professional ethics and boundaries course before applying for reinstatement. CLERK FROM PAGE IB eventually stopped him with 'a stun gun. Anthony Rondell Welch, 41, of Ankeny was charged with first-degree robbery, willful injury and interference with official acts.

He was take to Iowa Meth odist Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition later in the day. Police said they don't recommend that people try to detain an armed suspect. "While we don't recommend clerks try to hold on to an armed man, I can understand their frustration and how they wanted this guy caught," Sgt. Lori Lavorato said. She said the clerk who pulled out his own knife appears to have acted in self-defense.

However, the incident remains under investigation. Higdon was one of the witnesses to identify the suspect for police. After the attacker jumped out the window, "he looked a little different because his face was kind of gnarly," Higdon said. Higdon did not immediately realize the extent of his injuries. He said a medic looked at his wounds and recommended he go to the hospital.

When he finally got home, Higdon told his wife what happened. "My wife isn't very happy with me," he said. 1.
