Webster Orton are parents of a son born by Caesarian section Dec. 4 at Park hospital, Mason City. He has been named Scott Eric and weighed 7 Ibs., 15 oz. There is another child in the family, a daughter, Becky, 2. MR. AND MRS. WM. KAD1NG .have returned from a visit of .'two weeks at Utica, Mich, with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Marlow. MR. AND MRS. Guy Giddings, Jr., Guy Giddings, Sr., LuVerne, attended the funeral services Monday at Wesley for Gordon Giddings, a cousin. Guy Giddings, Sr. left Tuesday for PprtaGorda, Fla. where he will spend the winter with relatives and friends. MR. AND MRS. Leo Kollasch have recently returned from Oxford Junction where they visited Mr. and Mrs. William Rooney. MR. AND MRS. Dave Skog- strom were home not long ago and visited the parents, Mrs. Vivian Skogstrom and M"r. and Mrs. Gail Haase. Dave is attending Northern Iowa University, Cedar Falls, and his wife is teaching. MR. AND MRS. Robert Harrison had as recent dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hovorman, Carroll, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Foray, Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Poeppe, Emmetsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Elbert, Whittemore, and the respective families. MR. AND MRS. Stanley Sorenson had as Sunday dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson and children, Jolley. MRS. MATTHEW STREIT'S '< sister, Mrs. M. W. H. Morling of Emmetsburg, suffered e. recent heart attack and is hospitalized at Methodist hospital. Des Moines. Mr. andMrs.Streit have been there to see her and were guests of Mrs. Streit's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Coonan. MRS. FRANK OSTRUM has been visited by her grandson Jerry and family of Dubuque and at the conclusion of the visit accompanied them as 'far as Oelwein where she visited her sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Bennett and Mrs. C. Cummings. MR. AND MRS. HOWARD Stephenson were recently at Omaha to visit the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Glaser, former residents here. They had come to celebrate the 8th birthday of the Modrell's son, James, Jr. In S.U.I. Festival Iowa State University's annual Christmas Festival will be held Sunday, Dec. 10, and Connie Darbyshire of Algona is a mem- ber of the freshman chorus, while Dorene C. Funk of Algona is a member of the Iowa State singers on the same program. Rodney Smith of Swea City and Sidney Banwart of West Bend are also members, and David M. Ruhnke of LuVerne is in the oratorio chorus. 5 New Members L-Creek 4-H Lotts Creek Lassies met Nov. 20 at St. Michael's church basement. Vice president Loraine Arend presided. Plans for the Christmas party were discussed The group will have a pot-luck supper. The girls drew names for the gifts and the mothers will have a grab bag. It was decided to go Christmas caroling again this year at 7 p. m., Dec. 11. Talks were given by Jean Walker and Karen Adams. There are five new members for the club-Cheryl Winkel, Judy Walker, Lisa Kollasch, Barbara Arend and Dixie Rhubee. IRVINGTON By Marguerite Hayft* Thursday, Dec. 7, 1967 Algeria (la.) Upper Des Moine<-3 Wilbert Metzen is now a patient at Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines, having entered on Nov. 29. Mrs. Lee Colwell went toBritt Wednesday by bus to spend several days at the home of relatives, the Pearce family there. Mrs. Elmer Dole recently re- turned from California by plane. She had visited at the home of their daughter and family, the Birds of Saratoga, Calif. Kevin Walker and Matthew Dole are now back at school after being absent for several days with chicken pox. Ronald Becker, now stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., was a Nov. 25. weekend guest at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Becker. Sewer Grates A couple of storm sewer intake grates near intersections here were moved from their locations last week. Another, which was broken, possibly by a large truck, was removed near the high school building. All will be replaced soon.
