89 YEARS YOUNG Mrs. Myrtle Boone, a resident of Good Samaritan Home, was 89 years old Nov. 30 and her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Diekoff, served birthday cake for her. - o- COFFEE HELD Mrs. Ed Hagg entertained at a coffee Thursday for Mrs. Evelyn Sorenson, who has moved here from Iowa City where she has been employed as a nurse in the Veterans Hospital for some time. Other guests were Mrs. Albert Hagg, Mrs. Dora Hagg, Mrs. George Miller and Mrs. William Baker. - o- BIRTHDAY PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tolsdorf, Mike, Tony and Mary Ann, Osage; Hugh Black, Louise, Jimmie and Carolyn, and Frances Pruisman were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hagg. The birthdays of the Hagg grandchildren, Jimmie, Carolyn, Mary Ann and Mike were observed. - o - COUPLES CLUB Four couples clubs are joining to have dinner followed by bridge Dec. 9 at the country club. - o - PLAN LUNCHEON Women of the Congregational Fellowship are meeting Dec. 7 for a one o'clock luncheon. Mrs. Lloyd Bohannon and Mrs. Richard Norton are chairmen. The program will be given by Mrs. Jerry Cowan and devotions by Mrs. Frank Harcey. - o - P.E.O. TEA A P.E.O. tea will be held Dec. 6 at Mrs. Ted ChrischUles'. - o - BAPTIST WOMEN Women of the First Baptist Church will meet Thursday at which time they will fill plates of fruit for the sick and shut- ins of the church. Refreshments will be served with Mrs. Clifford Riebhoff and Mrs. Esther Willason in charge. Doris Keith will give the program. - o- PLAYED 500 Mrs. Elmer Kelley was hostess to her 500 club Wednesday afternoon. The club meets Dec. 6 with Mrs. Grace Jackman. - o- CHURCH MEETING Women of the United Presbyterian church will meet Thursday for a 1:30 luncheon. The program will be "Christmas Message" by Ruth circle. Devotions by Mrs. Robert Pingel. Music and lunch by Ruth circle. - o - CHRISTMAS PARTY The Plum Creek Homemakers Club will meet Dec. 13, Hostesses are. Joyce Keith, Marcella Garman and Violet Davis. This will be a Christmas party. PLAN MEETING The Soroptimist Club meets Dec. 12. This is a social meeting and hostesses are Vera Graham and Ruth Peterson. - o- W.S.C.S. MEETING Methodist W.S.C.S. will meet Dec. 7 for a one o'clock luncheon. Members of the Wesleyan Guild will be served earlier. Mrs. Lawrence Miller and Mrs. Jerry Payne are chairmen. - o MR. AND MRS. Jon Putnam have returned from Ponca, Neb. where they visited the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Putnam. Their son has been home from Kirksville, Mo. where he is a student at the college. MR. AND MRS. Warren Godden, Janice andSherrie, Chicago, have been recent guests of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Godden. The senior Goddens have also had Mr. and Mrs. Milton Farrow as guests. MR. AND MRS. Louis McEnroe have had as guests Dr. and Mrs. George Auer, Guttenberg. The men were classmates at Loras College, Dubuque. MR. AND MRS. Albert Hagg had as holiday guests their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hagg, Cheryl and Jeff, Omaha; their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Matz, Rhonda and Ronnie; and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hagg and Tim. Other guests during the Alvin Haggs visit here were Mrs. Albert Hagg's sisters, Dorothy Terwilliger and Ruby Dodd of Humboldt. DURING THE visit of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Richardson and family of Eddyville, a family dinner was held at the parental Paul Richardsons at which the James Richardsons and William Kuhns were in attendance. RUSSELL Buchanan and Verne McClure will be among those attending the lawyer's tax school at Des Moines. Their wives will accompany them. . MRS. JOHN HELMERS has returned from a visit at Fort Dodge with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Wilschusen and family. Council Minutes The City Council met in Special Session Nov. 13, 1967 at 5:00 p.m. at the City Hall with Mayor Finn and the following council members present: Muckey, Andreasen, Elbert, Nash, Cook & Peirce. Absent: none. Special meeting was held in regarding the proposed relocation of Highway 169 within the city limits. Several residents attended the meeting along with a petition objecting to the proposed relocation. After considerable discussion the council adopted a Resolution authorizing the Iowa State Highway Com m. to hold a Public Hearing on the proposed relocation of Highway 169 within the city limits. Moved & seconded the meeting adjourned. D. A, SMITH CITY CLERK MRS. LYDIA WETZEL has recently been visited by her son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Peter, Jackson, Minn. EARL RICH returned Thursday from a visit since before Thanksgiving with relatives and friends at Ponca, m., and vicinity. MR. AND MRS. Francis Bunting have been visited by the latter's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Olson, her brother Alfred Meyer of Courtland, Minn., and her sister, Mrs. Alma Stewart of Minneapolis. MR. AND MRS. Andrew Hanson have retired from work at the State Hotel and have taken an apartment in the Sjogren duplex on the corner of Jones and Call streets. AMBASSADOR The Hon. Arne Gunneng, Norwegian Ambassador to the United States was guest of honor of the Decorah chapter of the Federation of Norsemen at a banquet, in Decorah on Nov. 7th.
