12-Algona, (la.) Upper D« Molnei Tuwday, Dec. 5, 1967 -105- Nevada's oldest resident, Louie Clark, 105 years of age, died there October 31. Mr. Clark was born northwest of Marshalltown on July 29, 1862 and was a lifelong lowan. Council Minutes The City Council met in regular session Nov. 15, 19G7 with Mayor Finn and the following council members present: Muckey, Amlreasen, Elbert, Nash & Cook. Absent: Peirce. Minutes oflast regular meeting were approved. Class B beer permit for the American Legion was approved. Letter from the State Dept. of Health, concerning a complaint from a resident on the operation of the municipal refuse disposal facilities was read to the council. Notice from the Board of Supervisors of Kossuth County of a joint meeting with the council, concerning the Joint Ambulance & Emergency Radio Facility Agreement, will be held Dec. 27, 1907 at 7:00 p.m. The Mayor read a notice of a Defensive Driving Program to be held at the Algona Public High School from 7 to 11:00 p.m. on Nov. 21 & 30, 1967. The Mayor read a letter from the Board of Education requesting the City to consider the opening of E. Kennedy street from Phillips to Sample street. This request was referred to the Planning & Zoning Comm. for study & recommendation. Resol. approving the budget report for streets & parking for 19G8 was adopted. Resol. regulating the hours that the city dump will be open was adopted. The hours approved are 7:00 a.m. til 6:00 p.m. and closed on Sundays with this to start Dec. 1, 1967. Letter requesting the vacating of several blocks of street in the northeast part of the city was read and referred to the Planning & Zoning. Authorized the City Clerk to advertise for bids to supply the city with gasoline for the year 1968. Resol. accepting sanitary & storm sewer extension,, and au- thorising payment was adopted. Mayor read a letter from I he Cooperative Extension Service of Iowa State University concerning schools for newly elected mayors and councilman. Moved & seconded the meeting adjourned. D. A.
