JOURNAL SUNDAY JUNE 6, 2010 OBITUARIES 5B Donald J. Pomarico, Sr. BEACON Donald J. Pomarico, a lifelong resident of Beacon, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 79.

Born in Beacon, he was the son of Joseph and Mary Lukach Pomarico. He married Barbara MacDonald, who predeceased him in 2008. Mr. Pomarico retired from Nabisco, Inc. in Beacon, where he was a supervisor.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Dutchess County Old Timers Baseball Hall of Fame. He played baseball for the Beacon Braves. He loved driving his 1951 Chevy antique car and attending car shows and was a member of the National Chevy Association. He had a lifelong passion for attending stock car races with his family, as well as a love for flying airplanes. Mr.

Pomarico was a veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corps. He is survived by his sons, Donald J. and his wife Janet Pomarico, Beacon, Thomas and his wife Patricia, Beacon, and Michael and his wife Tina, Wappingers Falls; his daughters, Kathy Curtin and her husband, David, Beacon, and Lynn Pomarico, Beacon; his brothers, Ralph and his wife Rose Pomarico, Glenham, Jim and his wife Patricia, Pennsylvania; his sister, Carol and her husband Douglas Morrone, Beacon; his seven grandchildren, Kimberly Elias and her husband, Jonathan, Kristal Walden and her husband, Josef, David J. Curtin IV, Nicole E. Curtin, Michael Pomarico, Danielle Pomarico, and Trisha Maher; two great grandchildren, Marina and Tye Elias.

The family will receive their friends on Monday, June 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow Street, Beacon. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 8:45 p.m. with the Rev. David Nolan officiating.

Committal services will be private and at the discretion of the family. Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Halvey. Correll Clancy Galatti MILLBROOK Correll Clancy Galatti, of Millbrook NY, died June 2, 2010, after a long heroic battle with lung cancer. Survivors include her husband Stephen, mother Elizabeth Clancy, brother Paul Clancy, sons Jeffrey Barca-Hall, Christopher, Gregory and Andrew Hall, stepchildren John Galatti and Paula Canning, sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. A graduate of Bradford College and alumna of Bennett College and NYIT, Corrie worked for the Education Records Bureau, as admissions assistant for Trinity Pawling School, and was the owner of Heffalump's, a children's store in Millbrook with branches in Pawling and Fisher's Island, NY. More recently, she operated Firstgift, LLC, an internet babygift business.

Funeral services will be at St. Peter's Church in Lithgow, Millbrook, NY, on June 12 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Peter's, TrinityPawling or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Millbrook, NY 12545.

Richard J. Seeger HAYMARKET, VA Richard J. Seeger, of Haymarket, VA, formerly of Gaithersburg, MD and Wappingers Falls, NY, passed away suddenly on June 3, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Rose Seeger, loving father of Rachelle (Michael) Jayner and Robert (Kelly) Seeger, adoring grandfather of Ryan Nicholas. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 8pm at Little Sisters of the Poor, 4200 Harewood NE, Washington, DC 20017, where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, June 7 at 11am.

Thomas EAST FISHKILL Patrick F. Pennacchio, 61, a lifelong resident Dutchess County, died on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at his home following a long illness with Multiple Sclerosis. Born in Beacon on March 3, 1949, he was the son of the late Patrick and Marie DiPeter Pennacchio. Until his retirement, he was a self employed carpenter and was the owner and operator of Hopewell Home Improvement, Inc. He had also owned Hopewell Subways, Inc.

Pat was a member of Local Union and was an avid Yankee fan and hunter. On September 21, 1968 at St. Joachim's Church in Beacon, he married Gail Martire. He is also survived by his children, Gina Pennacchio and her fianco, John Alterio of Hopewell Junciton, Patrick A. Pennacchio and his wife Fawn of Wappingers Falls and Christopher M.

Pennacchio and his wife Dena of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren who will always remember their Pop-Pop, Danica Robinson, Angela and Kennedi Graboski, John and Sarah Alterio, Kyle and Madison Pennacchio and Brianna and Selena Brancato; his siblings, Robert Pennacchio, Judy LaDuke, Frank, Paulette and Glenn Pennacchio, Marie Hiland and Michael Pennacchio; and several nieces and nephews. He truly loved his children and grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 1 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Joachim's Cemetery in Beacon. Shirley A. Tomlins WAPPINGERS FALLS Shirley A. Tomlins, 72, of the village of Wappingers Falls, passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. A lifelong area resident, she was born in Beacon on June 3, 1938, the daughter of Arthur Pendleton and Alice Hauver.

Shirley was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park. She is survived by her children, Vernon Tomlins, of Wappingers Falls, Douglas Tomlins of St. Albans, Charlene Tomlins of Wappingers Falls, Joseph Spacone of Manchester, and Patricia A. Spacone of Wappingers Falls. her siblings, Alice Gaurino of Florida, Arthur Pendleton of Staatsburg, 15 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.

She is also survived by her former husband, Nunzio Spacone of Manchester, CT. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Davis, and a brother, Charles Pendleton Friends may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E. Main Wappingers Falls, Monday from 5 to 8 PM. Marjorie Elizabeth Bates Craig RHINEBECK Marjorie Elizabeth Bates Craig died peacefully in her sleep, of natural causes, at on May 31, 2010, Memorial Day, at The Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, New York. She was 96 years old. A native of Glens Falls, New York and graduate of the then New Paltz State Teachers College, she taught in the Baltimore Maryland School District before residing in Poughkeepsie, New York from 1956 to 1972 when she taught 2nd grade at the Martha W.

Lawrence Elementary School in the Spackenkill School District. She retired to Ocala, Florida before returning to Dutchess County in 1984 to reside in Rhinebeck, New York. She chose cremation without funeral or memorial services, preferring that tax-deductible donations be made to UNICEF. She is survived by her son, Michael Wakely of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Arthur P. Feroldi PAWLING Arthur P. Feroldi, 78, a resident of the Town of Pawling for 39 years and formerly of the Bronx, died on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Danbury Hospital. Born on May 27, 1932 in Manhattan. he was the son of Peter and Mary Ruffini Feroldi.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Until his retirement, Arthur was surface line supervisor for the MTA in Manhattan for 20 years. After his retirement from the MTA, he went to work for Dutchess Auto Body in Pawling, where he was well known and loved by the local community. He was a parishioner of St.

John's Church in Pawling. On February 13, 1955 in Manhattan, Arthur married Dorothy Fusco who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Peter Feroldi of Maui, HI and Theresa Cannon and her husband William of Hopewell Junction; his grandson, Zachary Cannon of Hopewell Junction; and two brothers. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 39 East Main Street, Pawling followed by interment in St. John's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

A lifelong area resident, she was born in Wappingers Falls, Nov. 30, 1938, the daughter of Cornelius Kelly and Mary Gibbon. She enjoyed playing Bingo, and yardsales. On July 25, 1959, was married to Edmund A. Carvalho in St.

Marys Church, Wappingers Falls. He survives at home. Also surviving are her children, Maryann O'Hearn and Terry, of Hyde Park, Elizabeth Runza and Lester, of Poughkeepsie, her grandchildren, Christine Wright and husband Joseph, Michael O'Hearn, Lester Runza, her, great grandchildren, Cayden, Joseph, and Miriah Wright, sisters, Jean Laffin of Wappingers Falls, and Mary DiCambio and her husband Edmond of SanJose, CA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Patricia Cassidy and Joan Kelly, and a brother, Cornelius Kelly, Jr. Services will be held at the convenience of the family There will be no calling hours.

0'Keefe of WEST LEYDEN David A. Thomas, 52, passed away on Monday, May 31 at his home in West Leyden NY. long time resident of Poughkeepsie, NY where he worked for Mid-Hudson Valley Propane and was proprietor of DAT's Service. In 2005, he purchased, operated and moved to the West Leyden 1 Hotel. Dave is survived by his life partner, Victoria Kiskiel and her children Lauren, John and Leeann of West Leyden NY, his mother, Lorraine Hitchcock of Sheffield MA; daughter, Linda Alberg, her husband Tait and granddaughter, Caitlin of Poughkeepsie NY; daughter, Windy Thomas and grandsons, Kaiden, John and Ka'Jon of Columbus OH; four brothers, Joseph Thomas of Titusville FL, William Thomas of Georgetown TX, Daniel Thomas of West Charlestown VT and Kenneth Thomas of Melbourne FL; three sisters, Margaret Baird of Hillsdale NY, Nadine Thomas of Derby VT and Yvette Duval of Great Barrington MA; and close friend from a previous marriage, Deborah SellThomas of Constableville NY.

Dave OBITUARIES Michael N. Nicolis HIGHLAND Michael N. Nicolis, 61, of Highland, passed away suddenly at home on June 2, 2010. A Hudson Valley resident for his entire life, he was a Computer Tech for the Poughkeepsie City School District. He had retired from IBM after 20 years of employment.

Born in Newburgh on April 16,1949 he was the son of Nick and Mary Margarettes Nicolis. On Feb. 17, 1984, in Poughkeepsie, he married Barbara Fredericks. She survives her husband at home in Highland. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Thomas Nicolis and four loving sisters in law and their spouses as well as several nieces and a nephew.

Per Michael's wishes, Cremation will take place and funeral arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family. OBITUARIES Alphonse "Al" Bry VENICE, FL Alphonse "Al" Bry, age 93, of Venice, Florida, passed away on June 4, 2010. He was born on July 7, 1916 in New York, New York.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Laura Mortensen Bry of Venice, Florida. Al retired in 1962 after 20 years as a NYC firefighter and he then had a second career at I.B.M. as a Test Equipment Engineer until his retirement in 1979 at which time they moved to Venice from Wappingers Falls, New York. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

Al was a pioneer as a ham radio operator. His call sign, W2MEL, is known all over the world. He is also survived by five daughters, Susan Koczur of Ironton, Missouri, Anne Ferguson of Englewood, Florida, Laura Klinski of North River, New York, Marie Bry of Rhinebeck, New York and Jayne Sickels of Spencerport, New York. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be celebrated at on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice.

was a BRIARCLIFF MANOR Marjorie T. O'Keefe, 83, of Briarcliff 1 Manor, N.Y. passed away peacefully at Cedar Manor Nursing Home on June 5, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Marjorie was born in the Bronx on April 8, 1927 to Bernard and Della (Lynch) Murray. She was a graduate of Cathedral Prep High School in NYC and attended Fordham University.

Marjorie worked at WR Grace for many years and stayed at home to raise her children. She volunteered in many capacities at St. Theresa's School during and after her children attended.She was also actively involved in St. Theresa's Parish and at one time was a Trustee of the Parish. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard W.

O'Keefe on February 4, 1985 and her infant son, John, on November 21, 1958 and many special friends. She is survived by her three children, Terri Berrisford of Ossining, Schaindlin (Joel) of Ossining, N.Y. and Richard B. (Cathy) of Hopewell Also surviving are her six grandchildren, Christopher and Kaitlin Berrisford, Kiera and Erin Schaindlin and Meghan and Richard W. O'Keefe II.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, June 7 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Tuesday at St. Theresa's Church Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. She was born September 9, 1914 in Montreal, Canada, the daughter of Richard and Anna Byers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Walsh. Anna is survived by her daughters Ann LaFrance and Kathleen Walsh; a grandson Edward LaFrance and wife Kristin LaFrance; and two great grandchildren Zachary LaFrance and Kelly LaFrance. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth DeWitt and her brother Richard Byers. Mrs.

Walsh graduated from Misaricordia Hospital School of Nursing in 1938 in New York and enjoyed a lengthy career in this profession that she loved and excelled in. She was a hard worker, a dedicated wife and mother and loyal to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered lovingly. TUCSON, AZ Anna W. Walsh, 95, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away June 3, 2010 at her John Stephen Bozsik POUGHKEEPSIE John Stephen Bozsik, age 91, entered into rest June 3, 2010 at Vassar Bros.

Medical Center after a short illness. John was born in Poughkeepsie on July 4, 1918, the son of Mary (Gnandt) Bozsik and John S. Bozsik. Part of his childhood was spent in Long Branch, NJ and after returning to Poughkeepsie, he attended local schools and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School. He then entered military service during WWII and was stationed in Italy with the 7th Evacuation Unit originating from the University of Virginia.

Upon returning home, he began learning the art of piano, tuning and repairing at the NY trade school in NYC. He soon developed a successful following and tuned a and repaired pianos for many Dutchess County residents, also musicians, piano teachers, local schools, as well as the Bardavon Opera House. His most notable tuning was the Victor Borge show held at Bardavon. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Madalena Del Santo. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; a sister in law, Ernestine Bedell of Norwalk, CT, a niece, Susan Backer of Virgina Beach, VA and several cousins.

Alfred B. White MILLBROOK Alfred White, 90, of Millbrook died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Mr. White was a Millbrook dairy farmer for many years. He also was an assessor for the Town of Washington for over 50 years.

Born in New York City on July 13, 1919, he was the son of Hiram and Gertrude Stout White. He was a graduate of Millbrook High School and attended Krissler Business Institute. He served in the US Army during WW-II and was a recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. On March 9, 1951 in Millbrook Alfred married Dorothy Ann Werher. Mrs.

White survives at home. In addition to his wife Dorothy, Alfred is survived by his son and daughter in law, David and Judith White of and his granddaughter Annette Chamberlain and her husband Philip of Dania There will be no calling hours.
