Hire Teachers For OEO Head Start Schools The Kossuth county Economic Opportunity Advisory Board hired two full-time teachers and two teachers' aides for the head start classes which will begin in the county later this month during a meeting Wednesday night. Hired as teachers are Mrs. Lawrence Besch, Whittemore, and Mrs. Ed Smith, Jr., Burt. Mrs. Besch, who formerly taught in the West Bend Community School District, will teach at the Plum Creek Center, and Mrs. Smith, who has taught at Burt and Bancroft, will teach at the Bancroft Center. At least 30pre-school children will participate in the program, which is the first Head Start program offered during the regular school year in this county by the OEO. Mrs. Herbert A. Kaiser of Lu Verne will be the teachers' aide NOTICE Dr. Clapsaddle's Dental Office will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings until 8 p.m. (78 tfn) you expect more from Stqndard . . and you get it!" pA^A 'STEADY' 'PATRONAGE' nuans BETTER CARE for yevr car ^V? CHUCK BEHR'S STANDARD SERV. Algona, Iowa at Plum Creek and Mrs. Rosemary Dudding of Bancroft will assist Mrs. Smith. Joe Straub, chairman of the Advisory Board, stated that nine applicants were interviewed for the two teaching positions. Mr. Straub said that the board was gratified by the good response and impressed with the qualifications of all applicants. He said that it was a difficult choice for the board to make because of the qualifications of all the other teachers who applied as well as the two who were hired. The Head Start program will run through the summer of 1968. It is contemplated that a third class will be started during the summer months. In other action, the board accepted .the resignation of Mrs. Kaiser as one of Kossuth's representatives on the Upper Des Moines Opportunity board of directors so that she could accept employment as a teachers' aide. Mrs. Bernice Heneman, Armstrong, was elected ,to fill the un- expired portion of Mrs. Kaiser's term. I CALL 295-2116 FOR BROASTED CHICKEN 90? (82t£n)| St. Joe Cook Book Recipe Rouncl- Up. S3.00.
