Glorifying Yourself BY ALICIA HART NEA Service Staff Writer To the June graduate who is look( ing for her first job: It is not a good idea to appear before someone you hope will hire you, in clothes that are too fussy or too casual. This excludes hats with flowing veils and all dresses except neatly tailored, simple though feminine ones.

It excludes also sweaters and skirts and the flat-heeled saddle shoes you loved to wear on the campus last year. Don't be coy. Cute mannerisms, even a suggestion of baby talk or any variation of that old "You're- a-great big powerful executive and I'm-a-poor little thing-who- wants-a-job" line are out. Or. rather, you are out if you go in for Make sure that you are and look clean from head to foot.

Many a girl has been turned away with a "we'll get in touch with you later" simply because her hair wasn't soft and shining, her hands immaculate. On the other hand, don't be a cold fish. Any person is hired because the employer believes she can do the job, of course. But, in addition, it's to her advantage if, somehovv during the interview, the I prospective employer gets the idea that she would be a pleasant, good natured, enthusiastic person to have around the office. Don't go in for dramatic effects.

Unless your lashes and brows are absolutely colorless, just skip mas- cara. By all means, skip eye shadow. Apply powder and lipstick carefully. Unless you have natural color in your checks, put on a bit of rouge. This is no time to be pale.
