Upper DM Moines Thursday, Nov. 2, < 1967 FAMILY DINNER A pre-Christmas dinner was held Sunday at Charlie's Supper Club by Mrs. Milton Dahl and her family, Mrs. Merle Pratt and Debbie, Iowa Falls, Craig Vinson, wife Betty and daughters, Peggy of Rock Rapids, and Jane, Mrs. James Christensen and husband of Adel, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Vinson, Spencer, and Mrs. Dahl's brother and sister-iri-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dow Laidley of Rowan. Mr. Pratt, Dave and John, were not able to t>e present and the son Bob is in California. Mrs. Dalil is leaving Nov. G for an indefinite stay- in Frankfurt, Germany, accompanied by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Paul Laidley, Laurens. EIGHT SPECKS The Eieht Specks JOO club meets Nov. 1 with Mrs. Esther Helberg. BRIDGE HOSTESS Mrs. Mel Griffin entertiiined her bridge club Friday. PLAYED CARDS The Idle Hour bridge club met Wednesday with Mrs. Ann Hanson. - o - IS ENGAGED A family dinner was held Sunday at the parental James Walkers for the son John, Adj. Petty officer, second class, who lias been home from San Diego, Calif, on a 30-day leave. He has been on the USS Enterprise in Ponti Gulf the past year and left Tuesday morning for Key- West, Fla. where he will train navy personnel at the naval station. Thirty-nine guests attended the dinner and included Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Myers, Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Klinker, Omaha, Jim Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Walker and the respective families, and Cynthia Groen. At this time the engagement of John was announced. His marriage to Betty- Roberts of Bemidji, Minn, will take place Dec. 31. - o - CHURCHES DURING the vacancy of a pastor at the Nazarene church, Estherville, Aldean McAdams has been preaching the past three Sundays at both morning ajul evening services. It is expected the pastorate will be filled in a short time. Rev. Roy Cox is the pastor at the Algona church. THE Presbyterian general council meeting of the Presbyterian churches will meet Nov. 1 at 10 a. m. at Ackley. SUNDAY, Nov. 12, there will be all-church family night beginning with a pot-luck supper at the Presbyterian church. CRESCO M-D CLUB The October meeting of the I •JT GRUNDIG STEREO AND NEW HOME SEWING MACHINE •H- •X- Cresco Mothers and Daughters Club was held at the home of Mrs. Cliff Teeter with Mrs. Glen Evans assisting. Jack Chrischilles brought to the meeting many bolts of material for home sewing. He gave a very interesting and informative talk. Dresses had been made from some of the material and were modeled by a member of the Chrischilles' sale people. Guests were Sandy Nielson, Agnes Kirsch and Jeanette McEnroe. In answer to roll call many of the members and guests modeled dresses they had made. The next meeting will be Nov. 8 at the home of Mrs. George Wildin with Mrs. Jim Wilden assisting. Roll call is some foreign custom or tradition. - o WILLIAM MARK, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sigsbee, is a guest this week at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Feaster. Bill is being transferred to Waterloo from LaCrescent, Minn. He is associated with Montgomery Ward & Co.
