David retired from Western Electric, later worked as manager of Circle Tower and was a veteran of the Korean War. His parents Roy Sarah Lawrence, and son, Robert H. Lawrence preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ida Marcum Lawrence; brother Jerry Eden; two sons Daniel G. Lawrence and Damon R.

Lillian B. Smith Swadner Letter Emily Elizabeth Duke Sapp 85, Warren, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003. Emily was born in Fort Valley, GA to Homer and Elna (Bryant) Duke. She graduated from Asbury College where she met her husband, Rev.

Dr. L.G. Sapp. Together they served United Methodist Churches in the North Indiana Conference. Communities they served included: Charlottesville, Cleveland, Angola, Ft.

Wayne, Bluffton, Huntington, New Castle and Marion. Emily was devoted to missions work and made trips to Africa and Haiti to work with the missionaries, people and church there. Emily and L.G. adopted a son in 1956. She was a devoted mother and wife throughout her life.

She worked at the Ft. Wayne public library in the 70's utilizing her degree in Library Science. Emily loved flowers and photographed and painted her favorite blossoms walking through their properties in North Webster (Epworth Forest) and Georgia appreciating the wildflowers and cultivated gardens gave her much joy. She was a member of the Camellia Society in Fort Valley where she also maintained her membership in the United Methodist Church. Mrs.

Sapp was a skilled craftsperson creating needlepoint and crochet pieces of functional beauty. Emily spent the last years of her life through the present at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren with husband, L.G. who died on Oct. 3, 2000. There she led an active life of swimming, walking and was elected Valentine's Day Queen in 2002.

Everyone knew Emily Sapp used this word to describe her: Sweet. Services will be today, Saturday, January 3 at 2 p.m. in United Methodist Memorial Home with calling from 1 to 2 p.m. Arrangements handled by: Glancy Funeral Homes, II. Brown Son Chapel, Warren.

Emily was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Lynette Murchison. Survivors: son, Wesley Duke Sapp of Indianapolis; brother, James Victor "Jimmie" Duke of Fort Valley, GA; and granddaughters, Jennifer Elizabeth Sapp of Indianapolis and Jessica Marie Sapp of Bloomington. Service: 6 p.m. Jan. 3 in Owens Funeral Home, Alexandria, with calling two hours prior. Leah Amanda Edmonds Vaughan 83, Ft. formerly of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2003.

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park North Funeral Center on Saturday, January 3, 2004. The family will receive visitors at 10 the service and burial will follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crossroads Guild, the American Lung Association or the American Institute for Cancer Research. Leah was born to Guy and Jessie Mae Edmonds in Leavenworth, Kansas on August 30, 1920. She was raised in Leavenworth and attended Kansas University where she majored in music.

She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She married Edward Graham Vaughan in July of 1942. They stared their life together in Joliet, Illinois later moving to Indianapolis, where they spent over 50 years together. Leah was the past president of City Pan Hellenic, of Alpha Delta Pi Alumni Association, and of Crossroads Guild. She was a member of Northmin-ster Presbyterian Church.

In October 1999, Leah moved to Fort Worth, Texas and resided at Broadway Plaza at Cityview. Her parents, two sisters and her loving husband preceded Leah in death. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends, along with many caregivers who gave her love and comfort as she bravely struggled with bone cancer the last three years of her life. She will continue to serve as an example of strength, love and courage for all who knew her. Survivors: son Dr.

December 31, 2003 at his Clearwater, Flor ida, home after a courageous battle with lung and pancreatic cancer. He was an Indianapolis resident for 48 years before moving to Florida. A graduate of Park School, he attended Georgetown University and graduated from Butler University in 1954. He then served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Meridian, Hills Country Club, Rotary Club of Indianapolis, The Players Club, and St.

Luke's Methodist Church. Mr. Lanagan was President of Standard Change-Makers, in Indianapolis, a family-owned manufacturer of coin and bill changers. After selling his share in 1969, he purchased and became publisher of Coin Laun-derer and Cleaner Magazine, the leading trade magazine for the coin-op laundry industry. He was a founding chairman and two-term President of the National Automatic Laundry and Cleaning Council (NALCC), the national trade association for the coin laundry industry.

Mr. Lanagan was the youngest to serve as Indiana Chairman of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and was a member of the Board of Governors of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, President of the Indiana Endowment for the Arts, and served as an Indiana State Arts Commissioner. He was a director for Goodwill Industries and St. Augustine Home for the Aged and served two terms as the chairman of the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township School Board selection committee. He also served as the Finance Chairman for Indiana Governor Otis Bowen's re-election campaign and was honored by Governor Bowen with the prestigious distinction of Sagamore of the Wabash.

In 1980, Mr. Lanagan moved to Clearwater, Florida, where he was the President of KLOPP International, and BRISKER Dry Food Crisper, Inc. His eternally optimistic attitude, great sense of humor, and incredible entrepreneurial spirit will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Survivors include wife, Anita M. Lanagan; daughters, Betsy Paul (Bryan) of Indianapolis; Anne Scarpino (Will) of Carmel; Jennifer Robison (Jeff) of Clearwater, Florida; step-son, Jack Ry-bicki (Renee) of Tampa, Florida; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater, Florida with funeral services on Monday, January 5 at 11 a.m. at North Bay Community Church, Clearwater. Entombment will be at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation of the Florida Suncoast, 300 East Bay Drive, Largo, Florida 33770-9850.

She was the widow of John N. Swadner and Clifford E. Lefter. She worked for Eli Lilly retiring in 1978 after 30 years of service. Lillian was a member of McKendree UMC in Simpson County, KY for many years and more recently of the Irvington Friends.

She is survived by her sister Nadine Hertz; daughter, Laura Swadner Clark; and son John W. Swadner, a stepson, Clifford E. Lefter, 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, January 5, at 12 p.m. with visitation Sunday, January 4, from 2 p.m.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles K. McManama on May 3, 1998, whom she married on August 3, 1944. She was a 1939 graduate of Kokomo High School. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Dick and Jane Meranda of Sheridan, IN, Jack Meranda of Ft. Wayne, IN, Susan and Paul Yeoman of Murray, NE, Bill and Barbara Meranda of Zi-onsville, IN; four grandchildren, Russell Meranda, Spencer Meranda, David Yeoman and Meri' dith Yeoman; three great grandchildren, Katie Meranda, Ryan Meranda and Caden Meranda; two sisters, Joan Kellar and Marion Helms and her husband Howard all of Kokomo.

Richard R. Rice 73, of Tavares, FL, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2003. Born in Indianapolis, IN, Mr. Rice moved from Indianapolis to Tavares in 1992. He retired from Paul Inman Food Brokers in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Rice; daughters, Jeanne A. (William) Carman, De-bra L. (Robert) Cooney, and Cindi S. (Dennis) Rusch; sister, Evelyn Hall; grandchildren, Christina M. Breaux, Jennifer L.

Jimmie L. Riley 46, Greenwood, died Thursday, January 1, 2004. He was born February 1, 1957, in Salem, IN. His father was Carl W. Riley and his mother is Altie Marie (Holz-bog) Riley of Martinsville.

He married Jennifer N. (Miller) Riley on May 16, 1992 in Waverly, IN; she survives. Survivors include three daughters, Shaunna Marie Riley of Mooresville; Jessica Dawn Arnold of Indianapolis; and Kelly Ann Arnold of Greenwood; two brothers, Steve Riley of Gosport, IN and Danny Riley of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by one son, Jonathon J. Riley, who died April 26, 2003.

He was employed for ten years by Union Local 103 Operators and Engineers as a heavy equipment operator. A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m.

Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in White River Township in Greenwood. Hermina A. Ritter Died on January 1, 2004 at the age of 91.

She had been an accountant for 36 years for J.T. Pehler, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the former (IMC) International Minerals and Inc. Also a former member of St. Roch Catholic Church and its Ladies Guild.

Calling will be January 3 from 11 to 1 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with a funeral mass there at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. She was the sister of the late Urban Ritter and the late Marie M.

Rathz. She is survived by nine nieces and three nephews. Arrangements entrusted to Lauck Funeral Home, Indianapolis. Juanita M. Schoch 80, of Indianapolis, passed away December 31, 2003.

Mary was a South-side resident most of her life. She was the widow of Clarence (C.J.) Schutter. Mary was a beautician for several years and a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church and an IU Bobby Knight fan. She is survived by son, James Schutter, brother, Glenn Pursell; sisters, Lorena Evans and Erma Bryant; nieces and nephews, Betty Jean Schom, Robert Leroy Bryant, Jacqueline Mae Kelley, Patty Lee Sherfeld, James Evans and Wilma Jean Wolfley; and dear and beloved friends.
