Thursday, March 7, THE TIMES Hometown newspaper of Brookshire and Katy, Texas FIVE Dedication Service Planned March 10th Sunday a March lOtli, p.m. is the time for the Dedication Service for the Coastal Plains Piaplist Area Missions Office and Baptist Student Union Center located at 17:30 N. Richmond Road, Wharton, Texas. The Area Missions fi and B.S.U. was combined about three years ago when Colorado Baptist.

Association and San Felipe Baptist Associa- tion joined together and selected Wharton as it's home base of operations. Approximately seventy churches and missions make up the Coastal Plains Baptist Area. Housed in the new facilities are offices for the Area Missionary and B.S.U. Doc McClain, chairman said they served more people than they have ever served. Many of the Brookshire area residents came and everyone seemed to enjoy the meal and visiting. Serving was constant from 5:30 til 8:00 o'clock. from 1:30 4:30 p.m. on the dedication day.

Dr. Charles McLaughlin, Secretary of State Missions Commission of Baptist General Convention of Texas, will bring the dedication address. Dr. Harry V. Hamblen, of Dallas and Missionary Co-o i a for the work, will also be on the program.

Rev. Charles Stewart, pastor of First Baptist Church, Katy and Chairman of the Area Committee, will be in charge of the dedication service. C. 0. Hardy, Area Missionary, extends a cordial invitation to all to take part in the dedication of this property.

Garden Club To Meet On Friday Next Week The Friendship Garden Club will have their regular monthly meeting Friday, March 15th at 9:15 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Melvin Scott. Mrs.

Raymond Barker will be assisting Mrs. Scott as hostess. The program will be entitled i The Challenges of Winter With Indoor Gardens." Mrs. J. P.

Hill of Hilltop Farms in Cleveland, Texas will be guest speaker. Mrs. Hill writes, lectures and exhibits throughout the South. A horticulture specialist, she is a member of many National, International and area Plant Societies. She will demonstrate terrariums and dish gardens, using the miniature plants.

She will also show a garden on a log. The club will have a flower show on April 26 at the VFW Center. This year others will be invited to participate. Tax Forum On TV at Noon March 17, 24 Mrs. Olivia May has informed The Times that the American Society of Women Accountants will conduct a Tax Forum on Channel 13 from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m.

March 17 and March 2-1. On March 10 and April 7 the members will complete income returns for the Veterans at the VA Hospital. Mrs. May is recording secretary of the organization this year. She is senior administration with the Reservoir Engineering Group at the Katy Gas Plant.

Miss. Matthews of Hempstead Receives Grant Gamma Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society met in the Waller High School Library February 3rd. Miss Elizabeth Lehmann and Mrs. Beulah' Leverkuhn directed tiie White Elephant Sale for the scholarship fund. Mrs.

Martha Belle Hellmuth, chapter persi- dent, conducted a short business session. Mrs. Ora Nell Heine, chairman of the nominating committee, reported a slate of officers for the 196870 biennium, with the election to be held in Brenham March 9th. Mrs. Nina McConnell introduced Miss Carol Dean Matthews of Hempstead, the Waller County student chosen to receive the annual Selective Recruitment Grant offered by Gamma Omega Chapter to a prospective teacher.

Mrs. Hellmuth offered congratulations and presented her with the one hundred dollar grant. The Scholarship Tea was held in the Homemaking reception Room. White mums in Valentine decor flanked by white tapers in silver candlesticks graced the table. Coffee, punch, Valentine sweets, sandwiches, and nuts were served by the hostesses, Mesdames Alma Boettcher, Ola Kelly, and Beulah Leverkuhn.

Thirty-three members answered roll call, including Mesdames M. F. Dollar, Lucile Klehm, Oliver Kitzman and H. O. Bundick of Brookshire.
